我们和我们的列祖都犯了罪，我们作了孽，也行了恶。我们的列祖在埃及的时候，不明白你的奇事，也不记念你丰盛的慈爱，反倒在红海的海边悖逆了你。

现在，你们这些罪人的族类，也来接替你们的先祖，增添耶和华对以色列的烈怒！

我因这些事怎能不施行惩罚呢？像这样的国家，我怎能不亲自报复呢？”这是耶和华的宣告。

看哪！这都写在我面前，我必不缄默不言，我非报应不可，我必报应在他们的怀中。

万军之耶和华亲自启示我说：“直到你们死的时候，这罪孽也不得赦免。”这是主万军之耶和华说的。

这样，你们就指证自己是杀害先知的人的子孙了。那么，去完成你们祖先的罪孽吧！你们这些蛇，这些毒蛇所生的啊，你们怎能逃脱地狱的刑罚呢？因此，我差派先知、智慧人和经学家到你们那里；有些你们要杀害又钉在十字架上，有些你们要在会堂里鞭打，从一个城赶逐到另一个城。所以，从义人亚伯的血起，到巴拉加的儿子撒迦利亚的血为止，他就是你们在圣所和祭坛中间所杀的，所有义人在地上所流的血，都要归在你们身上。我实在告诉你们，这一切都必临到这个世代。

你们剩下的人，必因自己的罪孽在仇敌之地消灭，也因犯了祖先的罪孽日渐衰弱。

约沙法遵行他父亲亚撒所行的一切，总不偏离，行耶和华看为正的事。只是邱坛还没有废去，人民仍在邱坛上献祭烧香（“只是邱坛⋯⋯献祭烧香。”《马索拉文本》为22:44）。

并且在邱坛上，在山冈上和所有青翠的树下献祭和焚香。
