I post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they should keep praying all day and all night. You who pray to the LORD, don’t be silent!

耶路撒冷城垣、必置邏卒以察之、凡籲耶和華者、當晝夜不息、求之不已、待其建造耶路撒冷、使輝耀於天下。

I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,

Jerusalem, I have stationed guards on your walls. They must never be silent day or night. You who call out to the Lord must not give yourselves any rest.

On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest,

O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord.

Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the LORD.

On your walls, Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who profess the Lord, take no rest for yourselves;

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that are Jehovah’s remembrancers, take ye no rest,

Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the Lord.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem,[ which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,

I have set watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. They will never be silent day nor night. You who call on Yahweh, take no rest,

Listen, your watchmen shout; in unison they shout for joy, for they see with their very own eyes the LORD’s return to Zion.

All their watchmen are blind, they are unaware. All of them are like mute dogs, unable to bark. They pant, lie down, and love to snooze.

constantly pray,

“ Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must give them a warning from me.When I say to the wicked,“ You will certainly die,” and you do not warn him– you do not speak out to warn the wicked to turn from his wicked deed and wicked lifestyle so that he may live– that wicked person will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death.But as for you, if you warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wicked deed and from his wicked lifestyle, he will die for his iniquity but you will have saved your own life.“ When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I set an obstacle before him, he will die. If you have not warned him, he will die for his sin. The righteous deeds he performed will not be considered, but I will hold you accountable for his death.However, if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he will certainly live because he was warned, and you will have saved your own life.”

The LORD said,“ I appointed prophets as watchmen to warn you, saying:‘ Pay attention to the warning sound of the trumpet!’” But they said,“ We will not pay attention!”

“ Son of man, speak to your people, and say to them,‘ Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman.He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people,but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death.He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.But suppose the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people. Then the sword comes and takes one of their lives. He is swept away for his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for that person’s death.’“ As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must warn them on my behalf.When I say to the wicked,‘ O wicked man, you must certainly die,’ and you do not warn the wicked about his behavior, the wicked man will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death.But if you warn the wicked man to change his behavior, and he refuses to change, he will die for his iniquity, but you have saved your own life.

Then he said to them,“ Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’Then he will reply from inside,‘ Do not bother me. The door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything.’I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first man’s sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.“ So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.What father among you, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?If you then, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Remember your people whom you acquired in ancient times, whom you rescued so they could be your very own nation, as well as Mount Zion, where you dwell!

Attention! Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who serve in the LORD’s temple during the night.Lift your hands toward the sanctuary and praise the LORD!

As his father David had decreed, Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests to do their assigned tasks, the Levitical orders to lead worship and help the priests with their daily tasks, and the divisions of the gatekeepers to serve at their assigned gates. This was what David the man of God had ordered.

Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.”“ I will not let you go,” Jacob replied,“ unless you bless me.”

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls and will give an account for their work. Let them do this with joy and not with complaints, for this would be no advantage for you.

Remember how the enemy hurls insults, O LORD, and how a foolish nation blasphemes your name!

“ For the sake of Zion I will not be silent; for the sake of Jerusalem I will not be quiet, until her vindication shines brightly and her deliverance burns like a torch.”

But you said,‘ I will certainly make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand on the seashore, too numerous to count.’”

Staring at him and becoming greatly afraid, Cornelius replied,“ What is it, Lord?” The angel said to him,“ Your prayers and your acts of charity have gone up as a memorial before God.

And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, gifts of healing, helps, gifts of leadership, different kinds of tongues.

The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak, those watchmen on the walls!

And those who were in front scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted even more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Remind me of what happened! Let’s debate! You, prove to me that you are right!

It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,

and said,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your acts of charity have been remembered before God.

They cried out with a loud voice,“ How long, Sovereign Master, holy and true, before you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?”

and in front of the throne was something like a sea of glass, like crystal. In the middle of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.The first living creature was like a lion, the second creature like an ox, the third creature had a face like a man’s, and the fourth creature looked like an eagle flying.Each one of the four living creatures had six wings and was full of eyes all around and inside. They never rest day or night, saying:“ Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God, the All- Powerful, Who was and who is, and who is still to come!”

Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.He said,“ In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people.There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying,‘ Give me justice against my adversary.’For a while he refused, but later on he said to himself,‘ Though I neither fear God nor have regard for people,yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out by her unending pleas.’”And the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unrighteous judge says!Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

A Canaanite woman from that area came and cried out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is horribly demon- possessed!”But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him,“ Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us.”So he answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came and bowed down before him and said,“ Lord, help me!”“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs,” he said.“ Yes, Lord,” she replied,“ but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

The night watchmen found me– the ones who guard the city walls.“ Have you seen my beloved?”

So now, let the power of my Lord be great, just as you have said,‘ The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loyal love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children until the third and fourth generations.’Please forgive the iniquity of this people according to your great loyal love, just as you have forgiven this people from Egypt even until now.”
