Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

For this people’s heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back— and I would heal them.

Hear this, you foolish and senseless people. They have eyes, but they don’t see. They have ears, but they don’t hear.

For the hearts of these people have grown callous, their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.

Who can I speak to and give such a warning that they will listen? Look, their ear is uncircumcised, so they cannot pay attention. See, the word of the LORD has become contemptible to them— they find no pleasure in it.

This is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.For everyone who does evil hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed.

But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder; they closed their ears so they could not hear.

Then Jeshurun became fat and rebelled— you became fat, bloated, and gorged. He abandoned the God who made him and scorned the Rock of his salvation.

They are uncaring; their mouths speak arrogantly.

For the LORD has poured out on you an overwhelming urge to sleep; he has shut your eyes( the prophets) and covered your heads( the seers).

Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways? You harden our hearts so we do not fear you. Return, because of your servants, the tribes of your heritage.

But King Sihon of Heshbon would not let us travel through his land, for the LORD your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to hand him over to you, as has now taken place.

not to the many peoples of unintelligible speech or a difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. No doubt, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you.But the house of Israel will not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. For the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.Look, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads.I have made your forehead like a diamond, harder than flint. Don’t be afraid of them or discouraged by the look on their faces, though they are a rebellious house.”Next he said to me,“ Son of man, listen carefully to all my words that I speak to you and take them to heart.Go to your people, the exiles, and speak to them. Tell them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says,’ whether they listen or refuse to listen.”

Their hearts are hard and insensitive, but I delight in your instruction.

As for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them, and I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh, all his army, and his chariots and horsemen.

Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his land.

The LORD will strike Egypt, striking and healing. Then they will turn to the LORD, and he will be receptive to their prayers and heal them.

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was unwilling to let them go.

To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. Who is adequate for these things?

Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,
