there came Joseph of Arimathæa, a councillor of honorable estate, who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God; and he boldly went in unto Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.And when he learned it of the centurion, he granted the corpse to Joseph.And he bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of a rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

And after these things Joseph of Arimathæa, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took away his body.And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb wherein was never man yet laid.There then because of the Jews’ Preparation( for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.

And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good and righteous man( he had not consented to their counsel and deed), a man of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews, who was looking for the kingdom of God:this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain.

For such a high priest became us, holy, guileless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;
