He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

主耶和華如此說：「我要從香柏樹高高的樹梢摘取並栽上，從頂端的嫩枝中折下一嫩枝，栽於極高的山上，栽在以色列高處的山上。它就生枝、結果，成為高大的香柏樹，各類飛禽中的鳥都來宿在其下，宿在枝子的蔭下。田野的樹木因此就知道是我－耶和華使高樹矮小，使矮樹高大，使綠樹枯乾，使枯樹發旺。我－耶和華說了這話，就必成就。」

他在世界，世界是藉着他造的，世界卻不認識他。他來到自己的地方，自己的人並不接納他。凡接納他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄作神的兒女。這些人不是從血生的，不是從情慾生的，也不是從人的意願生的，而是從神生的。道成了肉身，住在我們中間，充充滿滿地有恩典有真理，我們也見過他的榮光，正是父獨一兒子的榮光。

耶穌說：「以利亞的確先來復興萬事。經上不是指着人子說，他要受許多的苦和被人輕慢嗎？

「看哪，日子將到，我要為大衛興起公義的苗裔；他必掌王權，行事有智慧，在地上施行公平和公義。這是耶和華說的。

這不是那木匠嗎？不是馬利亞的兒子雅各、約西、猶大、西門的長兄嗎？他姊妹們不也是在我們這裏嗎？」他們就厭棄他。

那日是逾越節的預備日，約在正午。彼拉多對猶太人說：「看哪，你們的王！」他們就喊着：「除掉他！除掉他！把他釘十字架！」彼拉多對他們說：「要我把你們的王釘十字架嗎？」祭司長回答：「除了凱撒，我們沒有王。」

耶穌對他說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有枕頭的地方。」

耶穌出來，戴着荊棘冠冕，穿着紫袍。彼拉多對他們說：「看哪，這個人！」

律法既因肉體軟弱而無能為力，神就差遣自己的兒子成為罪身的樣子，為了對付罪，在肉體中定了罪，

他們就罵他：「你是他的門徒，而我們是摩西的門徒。神對摩西說話是我們知道的，可是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裏來。」

或是君王所派懲惡賞善的官員。

對他說，萬軍之耶和華如此說：『看哪，那名稱為大衛苗裔的，要在本處生長，並要建造耶和華的殿。

他們又再喊着說：「不要這人！要巴拉巴！」這巴拉巴是個強盜。

約瑟和馬利亞照主的律法辦完了一切的事，就回加利利，到自己的城拿撒勒去了。孩子漸漸長大，強健起來，充滿智慧，又有神的恩典在他身上。

就生了頭胎的兒子，用布包起來，放在馬槽裏，因為客店裏沒有地方。

他就同他們下去，回到拿撒勒，並且順從他們。他母親把這一切的事都存在心裏。耶穌的智慧和身量，並神和人喜愛他的心，都一齊增長。
