虽然他就是神本体的存在，却不把与神同等看做是一件要强抓不放的事，反而倒空自己，取了奴仆的形像，成为人的样式，以人的形态出现，

多人怎样因他震惊——他的容貌被毁得不像人，他的形体被毁得不像人类——

从耶西的树墩必发出一个嫩芽，从他的根而出的枝子必结果实。

他在这世界，世界也是藉着他而成的，世界却不认识他。他来到自己的地方，自己的人却不接受他。但是所有接受他的，就是信他名的人，他就赐给他们权柄成为神的儿女。他们不是由血缘、或肉体的意愿、或人的意志所生的，而是由神所生的。道成了肉身，居住在我们中间。我们看到了他的荣耀，正是从父而来的独生子的荣耀，充满了恩典和真理。

耶稣告诉他们：“以利亚确实要先来恢复万事。至于人子，经上怎么还记载说，他必然受很多苦害，并且被人拒绝呢？

这不就是那木匠吗？不就是玛丽亚的儿子，雅各、约西、犹大和西门的哥哥吗？他的妹妹们不也和我们在这里吗？”这样，他们就对耶稣很反感。

那天是逾越节的预备日，大约在中午十二点，彼拉多对犹太人说：“看，你们的王！”他们就大声喊叫：“除掉他！除掉他！把他钉上十字架！”彼拉多问：“我可以把你们的王钉上十字架吗？”祭司长们回答：“除了凯撒，我们没有王！”

耶稣对他说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

这时候，耶稣出来了，他戴着荆棘冠冕，披着紫色袍子。彼拉多对他们说：“看，这个人！”

因肉体软弱的缘故，律法所做不到的，神却做到了——神派遣了自己的儿子成为罪的肉身样式，并且为了赎罪，用肉身判决了罪，

他们就辱骂他，说：“你才是那个人的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒！我们知道神对摩西说过话，至于这个人，我们就不知道他是从哪里来的！”

或是他所委派来惩恶赏善的那些官员；

他们就再次大声喊叫说：“不要这个人！要巴拉巴！”这巴拉巴其实是个强盗。

约瑟和玛丽亚按照主的律法办完了一切事以后，就返回加利利，到自己的城拿撒勒去了。那孩子渐渐长大，刚强起来，充满智慧，并且有神的恩典在他身上。

就生了她的头胎儿子。她用布把他包起来放在马槽里，因为客店里没有地方给他们。

于是耶稣与他们一起下去，回到拿撒勒，一直服从他们。他的母亲把这一切事都珍藏在心里。耶稣的智慧和身量，以及神和人对他的喜爱，都不断增长。
