Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and sin as it were with a cart rope;

祸哉！那些以虚假之细绳牵罪孽的人！他们又像以套绳拉罪恶，

祸哉！那些以虚假的绳子牵引罪孽，以套车的绳索紧拉罪恶的人。

祸哉！那些以虚假的绳子牵引罪孽，以套车的绳索紧拉罪恶的人。

那些用虚假作绳子扯来罪恶，用套绳拉来邪恶的人有祸了！

那些人虚假的绳索牵引罪孽，又像用车绳拉罪恶的人，有祸了！

祸哉！他们那样的人！他们用虚谎之绳牵拉罪孽、牵拉罪恶，就像用套车之绳一样。

禍哉！那些以虛假之細繩牽罪孽的人！他們又像以套繩拉罪惡，

禍哉！那些以虛假的繩子牽引罪孽，以套車的繩索緊拉罪惡的人。

禍哉！那些以虛假的繩子牽引罪孽，以套車的繩索緊拉罪惡的人。

那些用虛假作繩子扯來罪惡，用套繩拉來邪惡的人有禍了！

那些人虛假的繩索牽引罪孽，又像用車繩拉罪惡的人，有禍了！

有禍啊，那些以虛謊的繩索牽引着罪罰，像以套車粗繩拉罪之報應的人；

禍哉！他們那樣的人！他們用虛謊之繩牽拉罪孽、牽拉罪惡，就像用套車之繩一樣。

以虛偽為繩引邪惡、如以曳車之索牽罪戾、禍哉其人、

人行惡而取戾、若以索曳車、其有禍乎、

禍哉斯人、以惡為索、牽引災罰、亦如以曳車之巨繩、牽引罪報、

Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes,

How terrible it will be for those who continue to sin and lie about it! How terrible for those who keep on doing what is evil as if they were tied to it!

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, who draw sin as with cart ropes,

What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart!

Woe to those who drag iniquity with cords of deceit and pull sin along with cart ropes,

Woe to those who drag wrongdoing with the cords of deceit, And sin as if with cart ropes;

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, And sin as if with a cart rope;

Woe to those who drag wickedness with cords of deceit and pull sin along with cart ropes,

Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

Those who pull evil along using cords of emptiness are as good as dead, who pull sin as with cart ropes.

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and wickedness as with cart rope,

In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil- doers, so that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right;

the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.

Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one buildeth up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar:say unto them that daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, And afflict thy heritage.They slay the widow and the sojourner, And murder the fatherless.And they say, Jehovah will not see, Neither will the God of Jacob consider.Consider, ye brutish among the people; And ye fools, when will ye be wise?He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?He that chastiseth the nations, shall not he correct, Even he that teacheth man knowledge?Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, That they are vanity.

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.

He saith in his heart: God hath forgotten; He hideth his face, he will never see it.

Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repenteth him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turneth to his course, as a horse that rusheth headlong in the battle.Yea, the stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle- dove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the law of Jehovah.How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes hath wrought falsely.The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, that he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then will the hands of all that are with thee be strong.So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great assembly, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee.But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink- offerings unto her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.But since we left off burning incense to the queen of heaven, and pouring out drink- offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink- offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink- offerings unto her, without our husbands?

Then said Micah, Now know I that Jehovah will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good.

Because with lies ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad, and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive;

None sueth in righteousness, and none pleadeth in truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth; and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths.The way of peace they know not; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein doth not know peace.

Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah: Jehovah hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast spoken rebellion against Jehovah.

Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
