“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, He has set me down like an empty vessel; He has swallowed me like a monster, He has filled his stomach with my delicacies; He has washed me away.May the violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon,” The inhabitant of Zion will say; And,“ May my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,” Jerusalem will say.Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to plead your case And take vengeance for you; And I will dry up her sea And make her fountain dry.

Vengeance is Mine, and retribution; In due time their foot will slip. For the day of their disaster is near, And the impending things are hurrying to them.’

For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.Wild oxen will also fall with them And young bulls with strong ones; So their land will be soaked with blood, And their dust become greasy with fat.For the Lord has a day of vengeance, A year of retribution for the cause of Zion.

Put all her bulls to the sword; Let them go down to the slaughter! Woe be upon them, for their day has come, The time of their punishment.There is a sound of fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, Vengeance for His temple.

Lord, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth!Rise up, Judge of the earth, Pay back retribution to the proud.

They will fall down dead in the land of the Chaldeans, And pierced through in their streets.”

for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her offenses.Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her.To the extent that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, to the same extent give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart,‘ I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’For this reason in one day her plagues will come, plague and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.

If I have sharpened My flashing sword, And My hand has taken hold of justice, I will return vengeance on My adversaries, And I will repay those who hate Me.I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword will devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the long haired leaders of the enemy.’Rejoice, you nations, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And will return vengeance on His adversaries, And will atone for His land and His people.”

The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath.

So I Myself have stripped your skirts off over your face, So that your shame will be seen.

When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;and they cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who live on the earth?”

For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come.I looked, but there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me, And My wrath upheld Me.I trampled down the peoples in My anger And made them drunk with My wrath, And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.”

He says,“ You are My war club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.With you I shatter the horse and his rider, And with you I shatter the chariot and its rider,And with you I shatter man and woman, And with you I shatter the old man and youth, And with you I shatter the young man and virgin,And with you I shatter the shepherd and his flock, And with you I shatter the farmer and his team, And with you I shatter governors and officials.“ But I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all their evil that they have done in Zion before your eyes,” declares the Lord.

If you say in your heart,‘ Why have these things happened to me?’ Because of the magnitude of your wrongdoing Your skirts have been removed And your heels have suffered violence.

Daughter of Babylon, you devastated one, Blessed will be one who repays you With the retribution with which you have repaid us.Blessed will be one who seizes and dashes your children Against the rock.
