And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day- star arise in your hearts:knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.

Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times.

And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabneiah.Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hasshub the son of Pahath- moab, repaired another portion, and the tower of the furnaces.And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the bolts thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits of the wall unto the dung gate.And the dung gate repaired Malchijah the son of Rechab, the ruler of the district of Beth- haccherem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the bolts thereof, and the bars thereof.And the fountain gate repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the bolts thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king’s garden, even unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of half the district of Beth- zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and unto the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty men.After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of half the district of Keilah, for his district.After him repaired their brethren, Bavvai the son of Henadad, the ruler of half the district of Keilah.And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another portion, over against the ascent to the armory at the turning of the wall.After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired another portion, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.After him repaired Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz another portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.And after him repaired the priests, the men of the Plain.After them repaired Benjamin and Hasshub over against their house. After them repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah beside his own house.After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another portion, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, and unto the corner.Palal the son of Uzai repaired over against the turning of the wall, and the tower that standeth out from the upper house of the king, which is by the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh repaired.( Now the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that standeth out.)After him the Tekoites repaired another portion, over against the great tower that standeth out, and unto the wall of Ophel.Above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his own house.After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his own house. And after him repaired Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east gate.After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another portion. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber.After him repaired Malchijah one of the goldsmiths unto the house of the Nethinim, and of the merchants, over against the gate of Hammiphkad, and to the ascent of the corner.And between the ascent of the corner and the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which Jehovah hath spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.And it came to pass, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Beth- el, that Jeroboam put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to him.The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah.

And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou, Jehovah, art God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt- offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have compassion on his dwelling- places; and the city shall be builded upon its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited after its own manner.

Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe the deeds, and seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill- country, and in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith Jehovah.

Again will I build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: again shalt thou be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

For thou shalt spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded;

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, by reason of the multitude of men and cattle therein.

And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded.And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all that passed by.And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I, Jehovah, have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Jehovah, have spoken it, and I will do it.

In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem.

Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; For it is time to have pity upon her, Yea, the set time is come.For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, And have pity upon her dust.So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, And all the kings of the earth thy glory.For Jehovah hath built up Zion; He hath appeared in his glory.

For David saith concerning him, I beheld the Lord always before my face; For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; Moreover my flesh also shall dwell in hope:Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance.

Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that the city shall be built to Jehovah from the tower of Hananel unto the gate of the corner.And the measuring line shall go out further straight onward unto the hill Gareb, and shall turn about unto Goah.And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto Jehovah; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places; thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

And Moses said, Thus saith Jehovah, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:and all the first- born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first- born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the first- born of the maid- servant that is behind the mill; and all the first- born of cattle.And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there hath not been, nor shall be any more.

All the land shall be made like the Arabah, from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; and she shall be lifted up, and shall dwell in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananel unto the king’s wine- presses.And men shall dwell therein, and there shall be no more curse; but Jerusalem shall dwell safely.
