所以巴比倫公侯的大使奉差來見希西家、要查問猶大地所發生的兆頭；在這件事上帝也放任希西家隨意而行，為的是要試驗他，好知道他內心所隱藏的是甚麼。

希西家卻沒有照他所受的恩待來報答永恆主，因為他心高氣傲；故此永恆主震怒了他，也震怒猶大和耶路撒冷。

我若因資財之豐裕，因我手多有所得、而歡喜；

不要倚靠王子，不要依靠世人，他一點也不能救助。他氣一斷，就回歸塵土；他所打算的、當天就消滅。

人心比甚麼都陰險，病到無法醫治；誰能識透呢？

另外還有從遊歷買賣人、從商人、來往作生意的人、以及亞拉伯諸王和屬地內的總督們來的。

故此、為要使我不至於因這些啓示之高超性而過於高抬自己，便有一種刺痛給了我、在肉身上、就是撒但的使者、來折磨我，免得我過於高抬自己。

希西家極有財富和尊榮；他為自己造府庫、來收藏金銀、寶石、香料、盾牌、和各樣珍寶之器；

地上實在沒有一個義人、時常行善而未嘗犯罪的。
