I said,“ I’m enjoying the best years of my life. Must I now go through the gates of death? Will the rest of my years be taken away from me?”

“我说：正在我中年之日必进入阴间的门；我余剩的年岁不得享受。

我说，在如日中天的时候我就走了，将剩余的年岁交给阴间的门。

我说，在如日中天的时候我就走了，将剩余的年岁交给阴间的门。

“我以为自己盛年之际，就要踏入阴间之门，不能享受余年。

我曾说：在我盛年之际，我竟要进入阴间之门；我余剩的年日，竟被夺去。

“我曾说：我如日中天就要进入阴间之门；我余剩的岁月竟被剥夺！

我說：正在我中年之日必進入陰間的門；我餘剩的年歲不得享受。

我說，在如日中天的時候我就走了，將剩餘的年歲交給陰間的門。

我說，在如日中天的時候我就走了，將剩餘的年歲交給陰間的門。

「我以為自己盛年之際，就要踏入陰間之門，不能享受餘年。

我曾說：在我盛年之際，我竟要進入陰間之門；我餘剩的年日，竟被奪去。

我心裏說：正當我中年之日我就不得不去世了；在我餘剩之年我就被交進陰間之門了。

「我曾說：我如日中天就要進入陰間之門；我餘剩的歲月竟被剝奪！

我嘗自謂、我日當午、將入陰府之門、絕我餘齡、

我享綏安之時、自謂壽齡將絕、必臨窀穸、

我自謂、正冀綏安時、乃將入示阿勒示阿勒見五章十四節小註之門、不得享我之餘年、

I said,“ In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?”

I said, In the middle of my days I must depart; I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years.

I said,“ In the prime of my life, must I now enter the place of the dead? Am I to be robbed of the rest of my years?”

I said: In the prime of my life I must go to the gates of Sheol; I am deprived of the rest of my years.

I said,“ In the middle of my life I am to enter the gates of Sheol; I have been deprived of the rest of my years.”

I said,“ In the prime of my life I shall go to the gates of Sheol; I am deprived of the remainder of my years.”

I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of Sheol: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

I said: In the prime of my life I must go to the gates of Sheol; I am deprived of the rest of my years.

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

“ I thought,‘ In the middle of my life I must walk through the gates of Sheol, I am deprived of the rest of my years.’

I said,“ In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

In fact, we felt as if we were under the sentence of death. But that happened so that we would not depend on ourselves but on God. He raises the dead to life.

So I said,“ My God, don’t let me die in the middle of my life. You will live for all time to come.

God, remember that my life is only a breath. I’ll never be happy again.

In those days Hezekiah became very sick. He knew he was about to die. Isaiah went to see him. Isaiah was the son of Amoz. Isaiah told Hezekiah,“ The Lord says,‘ Put everything in order. Make out your will. You are going to die soon. You will not get well again.’ ”

My life is almost over. My plans are destroyed. Yet the desires of my heartturn night into day. Even though it’s dark,‘ Light is nearby.’Suppose the only home I can hope for is a grave. And suppose I make my bed in the darkness of death.Suppose I say to the grave,‘ You are like a father to me.’ And suppose I say to its worms,‘ You are like a mother or sister to me.’Then what hope do I have? Who can give me any hope?Will hope go down to the gates of death with me? Will we go down together into the dust of the grave?”

“ I’m so weak that I no longer have any hope. Things have gotten so bad that I can’t wait for help anymore.

They refused to eat anything. They came close to passing through the gates of death.
