七月十七日，方舟停在亞拉臘山上。

恐怕希西家誤導你們說，耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神明有哪一個曾救它本國脫離亞述王的手呢？

下面的陰間因你震動，迎接你的到來；在世曾為領袖的陰魂為你驚動，那曾為列國君王的，都從寶座起立。

他們談論耶路撒冷的神，如同談論世上人手所造的神明一樣。

耶和華就差遣一個使者進入亞述王的營中，把所有大能的勇士、官長和將領盡都滅了。亞述王滿面羞愧地回到本國，進了他神明的廟中，他幾個親生的兒子在那裏用刀殺了他。

「你們要對猶大王希西家如此說：『不要聽你所倚靠的神欺哄你說：耶路撒冷必不交在亞述王的手中。

不要聽憑希西家說服你們倚靠耶和華，他說，耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在亞述王的手中。』

我祖先所滅的那些國的神明，有誰能救自己的百姓脫離我的手呢？難道你們的神能救你們脫離我的手嗎？
