故其居民力微、驚惶羞愧、如田草、如青蔬、如屋上之草、如未長之禾、

彼民荏弱、驚懼懷羞、如山野之蔬、屋上之草、未及其長、為風所暴、

Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.

願彼如屋頂之草、未拔已枯、

主使人逝世如水之流、亦使之如睡、青年如草、速然凋殘、清晨生發、隨即衰殘、至暮刈割、便皆枯槁、

當是日伊及人膽怯如婦女、因萬有之主向伊及舉手加責、伊及人皆戰慄恐懼、

攻爾之迦勒底人、假使爾擊其全軍、其中惟遺受傷之人、亦各於幕中起、以火焚燬斯邑、○

有聲曰、爾當宣告、問曰、我當何所宣告、曰、凡有血氣者如草、其榮如田野之花、草枯花雕、因主之氣吹噓其上、斯民誠如草矣、草枯花雕、惟我天主之言、永存不朽、

世人之歲月如草、其生發如野地之花、

故其中居民皆荏弱無力、驚惶羞愧、乃如田草、如青蔬、如屋上之草、如未成而槁之禾苗、

因彼必將如草之疾芟、如蔬之速槁、

經載云、凡有血氣者如草、人之諸榮如草之花、草枯花謝、

富者謙卑當樂、或作富者可因謙卑而誇因其如草花必雕、日出曝之、草枯花謝、其色之美亡矣、富者於其所為必衰殘、亦若是、○

惡人興盛似草、為非者發旺如花、終必永滅、

惟毋叛主、毋懼其地之居民、我必滅之、易如吞餅、彼無護衛、我儕蒙主庇祐主庇祐原文作主偕我毋懼之、

惟爾敵人、可登其城垣而毀之、惟勿盡毀、當除其枝條、蓋不屬主也、

若非主建造房室、匠人勞苦、亦屬枉然、若非主保護城池、守者警醒、亦為無益、爾曹早起遲眠、辛苦求食、亦屬徒勞、惟主所喜愛者、主必使之安然寢寐、
