亞述列王之待諸國、施行翦滅、爾既聞之、而爾能得免乎、

爾亦聞亞述前王、至於今、皆以翦滅列國是務、而爾獨獲救乎、

亞述列王、如何待列國、如何翦滅列國、爾亦必聞之、獨爾能得免乎、

Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

I’m sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?

You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: they completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Behold, you yourself have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be saved?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. Do you really think you will be rescued?

不要讓希西迦欺騙你們，以為耶和華必拯救你們。列國的神明中有哪個曾經從亞述王手中救他的國家呢？哈馬和亞珥拔的神明在哪裡呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪裡呢？他們從我手中救撒瑪利亞了嗎？這些國家的神明中有哪個曾從我手中救自己的國家呢？難道耶和華能從我手中救耶路撒冷嗎？』」

然而，何細亞差遣使者向埃及王梭求援，不再像往年那樣向亞述王進貢。亞述王發現後，把他抓起來囚在獄中。亞述王攻打以色列全境，並圍困撒瑪利亞三年。何細亞執政第九年，撒瑪利亞淪陷。亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘、歌散的哈博河一帶以及瑪代人的各城。

耶和華啊，亞述諸王確實掃滅列國，使其土地荒涼，把他們的神像丟進火中燒毀。因為那些神像只是人用木頭石頭製造的，根本不是神。

可是他卻不這樣想，心裡也不這樣盤算，他只想毀滅許多國家。他說，『我的臣僕都要做藩王！迦勒挪豈不是和迦基米施一樣嗎？哈馬豈不是和亞珥拔一樣嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不是和大馬士革一樣嗎？它們不是都被我征服了嗎？這些國家都在我的手中，他們雕刻的偶像不勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像嗎？我怎樣毀滅撒瑪利亞和它的偶像，也必怎樣毀滅耶路撒冷和它的偶像。』」主完成在錫安山和耶路撒冷要做的事後，必懲罰心裡狂妄、眼目高傲的亞述王。因為亞述王說：「我靠自己的力量和智慧成就了此事，因為我很聰明。我廢除列國的疆界，擄掠他們的財物，像勇士一樣征服他們的君王。我奪取列國的財物，好像探囊取物；我征服天下，不過是手到擒來；無人反抗，無人吭聲。」

這就是那曾使天下荒涼、城邑傾覆、不肯釋放俘虜回家的人嗎？』

有哪個國家的神明曾經從亞述王手中救他的國家嗎？哈馬、亞珥拔的神明在哪裡呢？西法瓦音、希拿和以瓦的神明又在哪裡呢？他們從我手中救出撒瑪利亞了嗎？這些國家的神明哪個從我手中救了自己的國家呢？難道耶和華能從我手中救耶路撒冷嗎？』」
