For a fool speaks disgraceful things; his mind plans out sinful deeds. He commits godless deeds and says misleading things about the LORD; he gives the hungry nothing to satisfy their appetite and gives the thirsty nothing to drink.

蓋愚魯者出言愚昧、心懷妄為、致行邪僻、謬言以逆耶和華、使飢者枵腹、渴者絕飲、

頑嚚者流、出於口則悖逆、藏於心則不軌、所行奸偽、所言誕妄、上逆耶和華、下使民饑渴、

蓋愚妄者必出愚妄之言、心藏惡念、事行奸邪、謗言逆主、使饑者不得所食、渴者不得所飲、

For fools speak folly, their hearts are bent on evil: They practice ungodliness and spread error concerning the Lord; the hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold water.

Foolish people say foolish things. Their minds are set on doing evil things. They don’t do what is right. They tell lies about the Lord. They don’t give hungry people any food. They don’t let thirsty people have any water.

For the fool speaks folly, and his heart is busy with iniquity, to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the Lord, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink.

For fools speak foolishness and make evil plans. They practice ungodliness and spread false teachings about the Lord. They deprive the hungry of food and give no water to the thirsty.

For a fool speaks foolishness and his mind plots iniquity. He lives in a godless way and speaks falsely about the LORD. He leaves the hungry empty and deprives the thirsty of drink.

For a fool speaks nonsense, And his heart inclines toward wickedness: To practice ungodliness and to speak error against the Lord, To keep the hungry person unsatisfied And to withhold drink from the thirsty.

For the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the Lord, To keep the hungry unsatisfied, And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise profaneness, and to utter error against Jehovah, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

It’s like the old proverb says:‘ From evil people evil proceeds.’ But my hand will not be against you.

One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty.A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied.People will curse the one who withholds grain, but they will praise the one who sells it.

Why do you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor?” The sovereign LORD who commands armies has spoken.

So the sovereign master was not pleased with their young men, he took no pity on their orphans and widows; for the whole nation was godless and did wicked things, every mouth was speaking disgraceful words. Despite all this, his anger does not subside, and his hand is ready to strike again.

Do you rulers really pronounce just decisions? Do you judge people fairly?No! You plan how to do what is unjust; you deal out violence in the earth.

Men move boundary stones; they seize the flock and pasture them.They drive away the orphan’s donkey; they take the widow’s ox as a pledge.They turn the needy from the pathway, and the poor of the land hide themselves together.Like wild donkeys in the desert they go out to their labor, seeking diligently for food; the wasteland provides food for them and for their children.They reap fodder in the field, and glean in the vineyard of the wicked.They spend the night naked because they lack clothing; they have no covering against the cold.They are soaked by mountain rains and huddle in the rocks because they lack shelter.The fatherless child is snatched from the breast, the infant of the poor is taken as a pledge.They go about naked, without clothing, and go hungry while they carry the sheaves.They press out the olive oil between the rows of olive trees; they tread the winepresses while they are thirsty.From the city the dying groan, and the wounded cry out for help, but God charges no one with wrongdoing.There are those who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.Before daybreak the murderer rises up; he kills the poor and the needy; in the night he is like a thief.And the eye of the adulterer watches for the twilight, thinking,‘ No eye can see me,’ and covers his face with a mask.In the dark the robber breaks into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they do not know the light.

Those who devise sinful plans are as good as dead, those who dream about doing evil as they lie in bed. As soon as morning dawns they carry out their plans, because they have the power to do so.They confiscate the fields they desire, and seize the houses they want. They defraud people of their homes, and deprive people of the land they have inherited.

But there is little hope for you ever doing good, you who are so accustomed to doing evil. Can an Ethiopian change the color of his skin? Can a leopard remove its spots?

A person’s folly subverts his way, and his heart rages against the LORD.

We’re eager to trade silver for the poor, a pair of sandals for the needy! We want to mix in some chaff with the grain!”

Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their misfortune and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

This is what the LORD says:“ Because Israel has committed three covenant transgressions– make that four!– I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They sold the innocent for silver, the needy for a pair of sandals.They trample on the dirt-covered heads of the poor; they push the destitute away. A man and his father go to the same girl; in this way they show disrespect for my moral purity.

For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say anything good, since you are evil? For the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.The good person brings good things out of his good treasury, and the evil person brings evil things out of his evil treasury.I tell you that on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak.

But Peter said,“ Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of the land?Before it was sold, did it not belong to you? And when it was sold, was the money not at your disposal? How have you thought up this deed in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God!”

I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You ought to know what is just,yet you hate what is good, and love what is evil. You flay my people’s skin and rip the flesh from their bones.You devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot– like meat in a kettle.

You have no share or part in this matter because your heart is not right before God!Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that he may perhaps forgive you for the intent of your heart.

They approach him, all the while plotting against him. Their hearts are like an oven; their anger smolders all night long, but in the morning it bursts into a flaming fire.All of them are blazing like an oven; they devour their rulers. All of their kings fall– and none of them call on me!

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death.

But Nabal responded to David’s servants,“ Who is David, and who is this son of Jesse? This is a time when many servants are breaking away from their masters!Should I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers and give them to these men? I don’t even know where they came from!”

Is not your wickedness great and is there no end to your iniquity?“ For you took pledges from your brothers for no reason, and you stripped the clothing from the naked.You gave the weary no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.Although you were a powerful man, owning land, an honored man living on it,you sent widows away empty-handed, and the arms of the orphans you crushed.

So too the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it has great pretensions. Think how small a flame sets a huge forest ablaze.And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence– and is set on fire by hell.

“ But woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven! For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in.
