The Egyptians are mere humans, not God; their horses are made of flesh, not spirit. The LORD will strike with his hand; the one who helps will stumble and the one being helped will fall. Together they will perish.

伊及之眾、世人也、非神也、其馬、血氣也、非靈也、主必舉手、使來助者顛蹶、受助者傾仆、同歸滅亡、○

But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.

The men of Egypt are only human beings. They aren’t God. Their horses are only flesh and blood. They aren’t spirits. The Lord will reach out his powerful hand to punish everyone. The Egyptians provide help. But they will be tripped up. The people of Judah receive the help. But they will fall down. All of them will be destroyed.

The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall, and they will all perish together.

For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the Lord raises his fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together.

Will you still say,“ I am a god,” before the one who kills you– though you are a man and not a god– when you are in the power of those who wound you?

As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, with a powerful hand and an outstretched arm, and with an outpouring of rage, I will be king over you.I will bring you out from the nations, and will gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a powerful hand and an outstretched arm and with an outpouring of rage!

I, the LORD, say:‘ You people have deserted me! You keep turning your back on me.’ So I have unleashed my power against you and have begun to destroy you. I have grown tired of feeling sorry for you!”

How can one man chase a thousand of them, and two pursue ten thousand; unless their Rock had delivered them up, and the LORD had handed them over?For our enemies’ rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

But the crowd began to shout,“ The voice of a god, and not of a man!”Immediately an angel of the Lord struck Herod down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.

all will be put to shame because of a nation that cannot help them, who cannot give them aid or help, but only shame and disgrace.”

Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver!Their life’s breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die.How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

Certainly you will not refuse one of my master’s minor officials and trust in Egypt for chariots and horsemen.

Egypt is totally incapable of helping. For this reason I call her‘ Proud one who is silenced.’”

A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver.

Look, you must be trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed staff. If someone leans on it for support, it punctures his hand and wounds him. That is what Pharaoh king of Egypt does to all who trust in him!

He opposes and exalts himself above every so- called god or object of worship, and as a result he takes his seat in God’s temple, displaying himself as God.Surely you recall that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you.And so you know what holds him back, so that he will be revealed in his own time.For the hidden power of lawlessness is already at work. However, the one who holds him back will do so until he is taken out of the way,and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth and wipe out by the manifestation of his arrival.

“ The LORD God of Israel says,‘ Give a message to the king of Judah who sent you to ask me to help him. Tell him,“ The army of Pharaoh that was on its way to help you will go back home to Egypt.Then the Babylonian forces will return. They will attack the city and will capture it and burn it down.Moreover, I, the LORD, warn you not to deceive yourselves into thinking that the Babylonian forces will go away and leave you alone. For they will not go away.For even if you were to defeat all the Babylonian forces fighting against you so badly that only wounded men were left lying in their tents, they would get up and burn this city down.”’”

Terrify them, LORD! Let the nations know they are mere mortals!( Selah)
