我但以理为此精疲力竭，病了几天；然后起来办理王的事务。我因这异象而惊恐，无法领悟它。

希勒加的儿子宫廷总管以利亚敬，书记舍伯纳，以及亚萨的儿子史官约亚，都撕裂衣服来到希西加那里，把将军的话告诉了他。

主耶和华赐给了我门徒的口舌，使我知道怎样用话语扶助疲乏的人。他每天清晨唤醒我，唤醒我的耳朵，使我能像门徒那样地听。

祸哉！亚述，我怒气的棍！他们手中的杖就是我的愤怒。我要派遣他去攻击一个不敬虔的国家，吩咐他去攻打我所恼怒的子民，掳财掠货，践踏他们，如同践踏街道上的泥土。
