We were with child, we writhed in labor, but we gave birth to wind. We have not brought salvation to the earth, and the people of the world have not come to life.

他們對他說：“希西家這樣說：‘今日是急難、責罰和凌辱的日子，就像嬰孩快要出生的時候，卻沒有氣力生出來一樣。

生產的疼痛要臨到他身上，他卻是沒有智慧的人，因為產期到了，他還遲延不破胎而出。

沒有人按公義求告，沒有人憑誠實爭辯；他們都倚靠虛無，說虛謊的話；所懷的是毒害，所生的是罪孽。

掃羅說：“今天不可以殺人，因為今天是耶和華在以色列中施行拯救的日子。”

約書亞說：“唉！主耶和華啊，你為甚麼領這人民過約旦河，為要把我們交在亞摩利人的手中，使我們滅亡呢？我們寧願住在約旦河那邊倒好。主啊！以色列人既然在仇敵面前轉身逃跑，我還有甚麼可說的呢？迦南人和這地所有的居民聽見了，就必圍困我們，把我們的名字從這世上剪除，那時你為你的大名要怎樣行呢？”

眾民對掃羅說：“約拿單在以色列人中行了這樣大的拯救，難道一定要他死嗎？絕對不可以！我們指著永活的耶和華起誓，連他一根頭髮也不可落在地上，因為他今天是與神一同作工。”這樣，眾民救了約拿單，使他免了一死。

他們對他說：“希西家這樣說：‘今天是痛苦、責罰和侮辱的日子，好像嬰兒的產期到了，卻沒有力量生產。

摩西回到耶和華那裡，說：“主啊！你為甚麼苦待這人民呢？為甚麼差派我呢？自從我到法老那裡，奉你的名說話以來，他就苦待這人民，你一點也沒有拯救你自己的人民。”

世人不能恨你們，卻憎恨我，因為我指證他們的行為是邪惡的。
