遺民僅有數人、若收油果時、樹杪尚遺二三顆、茂枝之上僅剩四五枚、此乃主以色列之天主所言、

Yet some gleanings will remain, as when an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches, four or five on the fruitful boughs,” declares the Lord, the God of Israel.

事情必如此成就在大地之间、万民之中，就像橄榄树被摇打，又像葡萄收获期结束后遗落的残粒。

以赛亚论到以色列人，呼喊说：“以色列子民的人数虽然多如海沙，将要得救的却是剩余的少数。

但神对他的答复是怎么说的呢？“我为自己保留了七千人，他们是没有向巴力屈膝的。”照样，在现今的时刻也有剩余的少数，就是藉着恩典蒙拣选的人。既然藉着恩典，就不再本于行为了；否则，恩典就不再是恩典了。

以色列啊，虽然你的子民多如海边的沙粒，却只有其中的余剩者将回归。灭绝已经注定，公义必如水漫溢，

要不是万军之耶和华给我们留下了一些幸存者，我们早就变得像所多玛、格摩拉那样了！

到那日，耶和华要从幼发拉底河到埃及溪谷，打收谷物——以色列子孙哪，你们必被一个一个捡拾回来！
