當晚，耶和華的天使到亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。人們清早起來，發現到處是屍體。

你們必飽受羞辱，毫無榮耀。你們喝吧，露出下體吧！耶和華右手中的杯將傳給你們，你們的榮耀將變成羞辱。你們以暴虐對待黎巴嫩，自己必被暴虐吞噬；你們毀滅野獸，自己必被恐怖籠罩。因為你們殺人流血，摧毀土地、城市和人民。

亞述大軍攻佔了亞葉，穿過米磯崙，把輜重存放在密抹。他們過了關口，在迦巴宿營。拉瑪人戰戰兢兢，掃羅的鄉親基比亞人倉皇逃跑。迦琳人啊，高聲喊叫吧！萊煞人啊，可憐的亞拿突人啊，留心聽吧！瑪得米納人逃跑，基柄人躲藏。那時，亞述王必屯兵挪伯，向著錫安城的山嶺，向著耶路撒冷的山丘摩拳擦掌。

以色列是耶和華的聖民，是屬於祂的初熟果子。吞吃它的必擔當罪責，大禍臨頭。這是耶和華說的。』」

對他說：「希西迦說，『今天是遭難、蒙羞、受辱的日子，就像嬰兒要出生，產婦卻無力生產一樣。

這是你應得的報應，是我量給你的，因為你把我拋諸腦後，信靠假神。這是耶和華說的。

這便是上帝為惡人定下的結局，為他們預備的歸宿。」

因為耶和華必為他們伸冤，奪去掠奪他們之人的性命。

耶和華啊，願你的敵人都像西西拉一樣滅亡！願愛你的人如升起的太陽，光輝熠熠！」此後，以色列安享太平四十年。

你們這些毀滅別人、自己還未被毀滅的人有禍了！等你們毀滅完了，就毀滅你們。你們這些欺詐別人、自己還未被欺詐的人有禍了！等你們欺詐完了，就欺詐你們。

他們不必到田間拾柴，或到林中伐木，因為有兵器當燃料。他們要搶奪那些搶奪過他們的人，擄掠那些擄掠過他們的人。這是主耶和華說的。

再一看，他已經消失得無影無蹤，無處可尋。
