“ I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty.

“ I will make Babylon a desolate place of owls, filled with swamps and marshes. I will sweep the land with the broom of destruction. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”

群畜和各类的走兽必躺卧在其中；鹈鹕和箭猪栖宿在柱顶上；窗内有鸣叫的声音，门槛上必有荒凉；因为香柏木都要暴露出来。

躺卧在那里的，只有旷野的走兽；充满着他们房屋的，只有吼叫着的野兽；鸵鸟住在那里，野山羊在那里跳跃。豺狼必在巴比伦的宫中呼号，野狗必在他们华美的殿里吠叫。巴比伦受罚的时候临近了，它的日子必不长久。

因此，我必使灾祸临到耶罗波安的家；我必剪除以色列中所有属于耶罗波安的男丁，无论是自由的或是不自由的；我必铲除耶罗波安的家，像人扫除粪土一样，直到完全除尽为止。

但鹈鹕与箭猪要占据那地，猫头鹰和乌鸦必住在其中。耶和华必把混沌的准绳、空虚的线铊，拉在其上。它的显贵一个也没有了，以致不能称为一国，所有的领袖也没有了。以东的宫殿必长荆棘，它的堡垒必长蒺藜和刺草；它要作野狗的住处，作鸵鸟的居所。旷野的走兽必与豺狼相遇，野山羊必呼喊它的同伴；连夜间的怪物也必在那里栖身，为自己寻找休息的地方。箭蛇要在那里筑窝、下蛋、孵蛋，并且聚子在它的阴影下；鹞鹰也各与自己的伴偶，聚集在那里。

旷野的走兽和豺狼必住在那里，鸵鸟也必住在其中；那地永远再没有人居住，世世代代不再有人住在那里，就像神倾覆的所多玛、蛾摩拉，和它们邻近的城镇一样；必没有人住在那里，也必没有人在那里寄居。”这是耶和华的宣告。

有一位大力的天使，把一块好像大磨石一样的石头，举起来抛在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样被猛力地抛下去，决不能再找到了！弹琴、奏乐、吹笛、吹号的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！各样手艺技工，在你中间决不能再找到了！推磨的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！灯的亮光，在你中间决不能再照耀了！新郎新娘的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！你的商人一向都是地上的大人物，万国都因你的邪术受了迷惑。

“行毁灭的山哪，就是毁灭全地的山哪！我要和你作对，我要伸手攻击你，使你从山岩上滚下来，使你成为烧毁了的山。”这是耶和华的宣告。“人必不从你那里取石头作房角石，也不从你那里取石头作基石，因为你必永远荒凉。”这是耶和华的宣告。

我要用量度撒玛利亚的准绳和测试亚哈家的铅锤，测量耶路撒冷；我要抹净耶路撒冷，像人抹净盘子一样。抹完了，就把盘子翻转过来。

又有第二位天使接着说：“倾倒了！大巴比伦倾倒了！它曾经叫列国喝它淫乱烈怒的酒。”

他用强有力的声音呼喊说：“倾倒了！大巴比伦倾倒了！成了鬼魔的住处，各样污灵的监狱，一切污秽可憎之雀鸟的牢笼，

大海上涨漫过巴比伦，它被汹涌的波浪淹没。它的城镇变为荒凉，成为干旱的地和沙漠，没有人住在里面，也没有人经过。
