He will not grow dim or be crushed before establishing justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait in anticipation for his decrees.”

I will perform a mighty act among them and then send some of those who remain to the nations– to Tarshish, Pul, Lud( known for its archers), Tubal, Javan, and to the distant coastlands that have not heard about me or seen my splendor. They will tell the nations of my splendor.

However, when they confess their iniquity and their ancestors’ iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me, by which they also walked in hostility against me( and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for their iniquity,I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

They will return in fear and trembling like birds from Egypt, like doves from Assyria, and I will settle them in their homes,” declares the LORD.

At that time those left in Israel, those who remain of the family of Jacob, will no longer rely on a foreign leader that abuses them. Instead they will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

So in the east extol the LORD, along the seacoasts extol the fame of the LORD God of Israel.

For the Israelites must live many days without a king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred fertility pillar, without ephod or idols.Afterward, the Israelites will turn and seek the LORD their God and their Davidic king. Then they will submit to the LORD in fear and receive his blessings in the future.

Is not Calneh like Carchemish? Hamath like Arpad? Samaria like Damascus?

When the people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

There was a sound when I prophesied– I heard a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to bone.As I watched, I saw tendons on them, then muscles appeared, and skin covered over them from above, but there was no breath in them.He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath,– prophesy, son of man– and say to the breath:‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these corpses so that they may live.’”So I prophesied as I was commanded, and the breath came into them; they lived and stood on their feet, an extremely great army.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Look, they are saying,‘ Our bones are dry, our hope has perished; we are cut off.’Therefore prophesy, and tell them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am about to open your graves and will raise you from your graves, my people. I will bring you to the land of Israel.Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people.I will place my breath in you and you will live; I will give you rest in your own land. Then you will know that I am the LORD– I have spoken and I will act, declares the LORD.’”The word of the LORD came to me:“ As for you, son of man, take one branch, and write on it,‘ For Judah, and for the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another branch and write on it,‘ For Joseph, the branch of Ephraim and all the house of Israel associated with him.’Join them as one stick; they will be as one in your hand.When your people say to you,‘ Will you not tell us what these things mean?’tell them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am about to take the branch of Joseph which is in the hand of Ephraim and the tribes of Israel associated with him, and I will place them on the stick of Judah, and make them into one stick– they will be one in my hand.’The sticks you write on will be in your hand in front of them.Then tell them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am about to take the Israelites from among the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from round about and bring them to their land.I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over them all. They will never again be two nations and never again be divided into two kingdoms.They will not defile themselves with their idols, their detestable things, and all their rebellious deeds. I will save them from all their unfaithfulness by which they sinned. I will purify them; they will become my people and I will become their God.“‘ My servant David will be king over them; there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my regulations and carefully observe my statutes.They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived; they will live in it– they and their children and their grandchildren forever. David my servant will be prince over them forever.I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be a perpetual covenant with them. I will establish them, increase their numbers, and place my sanctuary among them forever.My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.Then, when my sanctuary is among them forever, the nations will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel.’”

the LORD your God will reverse your captivity and have pity on you. He will turn and gather you from all the peoples among whom he has scattered you.Even if your exiles are in the most distant land, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.Then he will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you also will possess it; he will do better for you and multiply you more than he did your ancestors.The LORD your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.

From these the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, every one according to its language, according to their families, by their nations.The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.

I will set one shepherd over them, and he will feed them– namely, my servant David. He will feed them and will be their shepherd.I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them; I, the LORD, have spoken!“‘ I will make a covenant of peace with them and will rid the land of wild beasts, so that they can live securely in the wilderness and even sleep in the woods.I will turn them and the regions around my hill into a blessing. I will make showers come down in their season; they will be showers that bring blessing.The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the earth will yield its crops. They will live securely on their land; they will know that I am the LORD, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hand of those who enslaved them.They will no longer be prey for the nations and the wild beasts will not devour them. They will live securely and no one will make them afraid.

Sing to the LORD a brand new song! Praise him from the horizon of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, you coastlands and those who live there!

There will be a highway leading out of Assyria for the remnant of his people, just as there was for Israel, when they went up from the land of Egypt.

“‘ I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries; then I will bring you to your land.I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh.I will put my Spirit within you; I will take the initiative and you will obey my statutes and carefully observe my regulations.Then you will live in the land I gave to your fathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

Shepherd your people with your shepherd’s rod, the flock that belongs to you, the one that lives alone in a thicket, in the midst of a pastureland. Allow them to graze in Bashan and Gilead, as they did in the old days.“ As in the days when you departed from the land of Egypt, I will show you miraculous deeds.”

This is what the LORD says:“ The profit of Egypt and the revenue of Ethiopia, along with the Sabeans, those tall men, will be brought to you and become yours. They will walk behind you, coming along in chains. They will bow down to you and pray to you:‘ Truly God is with you; he has no peer; there is no other God!’”

Then the people of Judah and the people of Israel will be gathered together. They will appoint for themselves one leader, and will flourish in the land. Certainly, the day of Jezreel will be great!

“ So I, the LORD, say:‘ A new time will certainly come. People now affirm their oaths with“ I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the people of Israel out of Egypt.”But at that time they will affirm them with“ I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the descendants of the former nation of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other lands where he had banished them.” At that time they will live in their own land.’”

The LORD spoke about Damascus.“ The people of Hamath and Arpad will be dismayed because they have heard bad news. Their courage will melt away because of worry. Their hearts will not be able to rest.

The LORD will terrify them, for he will weaken all the gods of the earth. All the distant nations will worship the LORD in their own lands.

At that time Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Kedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations

The revelation of the word of the LORD concerning Israel: The LORD– he who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundations of the earth, who forms the human spirit within a person– says,“ I am about to make Jerusalem a cup that brings dizziness to all the surrounding nations; indeed, Judah will also be included when Jerusalem is besieged.Moreover, on that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy burden for all the nations, and all who try to carry it will be seriously injured; yet all the peoples of the earth will be assembled against it.In that day,” says the LORD,“ I will strike every horse with confusion and its rider with madness. I will pay close attention to the house of Judah, but will strike all the horses of the nations with blindness.Then the leaders of Judah will say to themselves,‘ The inhabitants of Jerusalem are a means of strength to us through their God, the LORD who rules over all.’On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like an igniter among sticks and a burning torch among sheaves, and they will burn up all the surrounding nations right and left. Then the people of Jerusalem will settle once more in their place, the city of Jerusalem.The LORD also will deliver the homes of Judah first, so that the splendor of the kingship of David and of the people of Jerusalem may not exceed that of Judah.On that day the LORD himself will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the weakest among them will be like mighty David, and the dynasty of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.So on that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”“ I will pour out on the kingship of David and the population of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication so that they will look to me, the one they have pierced. They will lament for him as one laments for an only son, and there will be a bitter cry for him like the bitter cry for a firstborn.On that day the lamentation in Jerusalem will be as great as the lamentation at Hadad-Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.The land will mourn, clan by clan– the clan of the royal household of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the clan of the family of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves;the clan of the descendants of Levi by itself and their wives by themselves; and the clan of the Shimeites by itself and their wives by themselves–all the clans that remain, each separately with their wives.”

as are those of Hamath also, which adjoins Damascus, and Tyre and Sidon, though they consider themselves to be very wise.

I will enter into judgment against them there concerning my people Israel who are my inheritance, whom they scattered among the nations. They partitioned my land,and they cast lots for my people. They traded a boy for a prostitute; they sold a little girl for wine so they could drink.Why are you doing these things to me, Tyre and Sidon? Are you trying to get even with me, land of Philistia? I will very quickly repay you for what you have done!For you took my silver and my gold and brought my precious valuables to your own palaces.You sold Judeans and Jerusalemites to the Greeks, removing them far from their own country.Look! I am rousing them from that place to which you sold them. I will repay you for what you have done!I will sell your sons and daughters to the people of Judah. They will sell them to the Sabeans, a nation far away. Indeed, the LORD has spoken!Proclaim this among the nations:“ Prepare for a holy war! Call out the warriors! Let all these fighting men approach and attack!Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears! Let the weak say,‘ I too am a warrior!’Lend your aid and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves to that place.” Bring down, O LORD, your warriors!Let the nations be roused and let them go up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit in judgment on all the surrounding nations.Rush forth with the sickle, for the harvest is ripe! Come, stomp the grapes, for the winepress is full! The vats overflow. Indeed, their evil is great!Crowds, great crowds are in the valley of decision, for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision!The sun and moon are darkened; the stars withhold their brightness.The LORD roars from Zion; from Jerusalem his voice bellows out. The heavens and the earth shake. But the LORD is a refuge for his people; he is a stronghold for the citizens of Israel.You will be convinced that I the LORD am your God, dwelling on Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy– conquering armies will no longer pass through it.On that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the dry stream beds of Judah will flow with water. A spring will flow out from the temple of the LORD, watering the Valley of Acacia Trees.Egypt will be desolate and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, because of the violence they did to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.But Judah will reside securely forever, and Jerusalem will be secure from one generation to the next.I will avenge their blood which I had not previously acquitted. It is the LORD who dwells in Zion!

I will desolate Pathros, I will ignite a fire in Zoan, and I will execute judgments on Thebes.

Let them give the LORD the honor he deserves; let them praise his deeds in the coastlands.

The Lord says,“ I will retrieve them from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,

They made your oars from oaks of Bashan; they made your deck with cypresses from the Kittean isles.

At that time there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will visit Egypt, and the Egyptians will visit Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.At that time Israel will be the third member of the group, along with Egypt and Assyria, and will be a recipient of blessing in the earth.

He replied,“ To build a temple for her in the land of Babylonia. When it is finished, she will be placed there in her own residence.”

“ Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor of the LORD shines on you!For, look, darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers the nations, but the LORD shines on you; his splendor appears over you.Nations come to your light, kings to your bright light.Look all around you! They all gather and come to you– your sons come from far away and your daughters are escorted by guardians.Then you will look and smile, you will be excited and your heart will swell with pride. For the riches of distant lands will belong to you and the wealth of nations will come to you.Camel caravans will cover your roads, young camels from Midian and Ephah. All the merchants of Sheba will come, bringing gold and incense and singing praises to the LORD.All the sheep of Kedar will be gathered to you; the rams of Nebaioth will be available to you as sacrifices. They will go up on my altar acceptably, and I will bestow honor on my majestic temple.Who are these who float along like a cloud, who fly like doves to their shelters?Indeed, the coastlands look eagerly for me, the large ships are in the lead, bringing your sons from far away, along with their silver and gold, to honor the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has bestowed honor on you.Foreigners will rebuild your walls; their kings will serve you. Even though I struck you down in my anger, I will restore my favor and have compassion on you.Your gates will remain open at all times; they will not be shut during the day or at night, so that the wealth of nations may be delivered, with their kings leading the way.Indeed, nations or kingdoms that do not serve you will perish; such nations will be totally destroyed.The splendor of Lebanon will come to you, its evergreens, firs, and cypresses together, to beautify my palace; I will bestow honor on my throne room.The children of your oppressors will come bowing to you; all who treated you with disrespect will bow down at your feet. They will call you,‘ The City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.’You were once abandoned and despised, with no one passing through, but I will make you a permanent source of pride and joy to coming generations.You will drink the milk of nations; you will nurse at the breasts of kings. Then you will recognize that I, the LORD, am your deliverer, your protector, the powerful ruler of Jacob.Instead of bronze, I will bring you gold, instead of iron, I will bring you silver, instead of wood, I will bring you bronze, instead of stones, I will bring you iron. I will make prosperity your overseer, and vindication your sovereign ruler.Sounds of violence will no longer be heard in your land, or the sounds of destruction and devastation within your borders. You will name your walls,‘ Deliverance,’ and your gates,‘ Praise.’The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the LORD will be your permanent source of light– the splendor of your God will shine upon you.Your sun will no longer set; your moon will not disappear; the LORD will be your permanent source of light; your time of sorrow will be over.All of your people will be godly; they will possess the land permanently. I will plant them like a shoot; they will be the product of my labor, through whom I reveal my splendor.The least of you will multiply into a thousand; the smallest of you will become a large nation. When the right time comes, I the LORD will quickly do this!”

That could only happen if the heavens above could be measured or the foundations of the earth below could all be explored,” says the LORD.“ Indeed a time is coming,” says the LORD,“ when the city of Jerusalem will be rebuilt as my special city. It will be built from the Tower of Hananel westward to the Corner Gate.The boundary line will extend beyond that, straight west from there to the Hill of Gareb and then turn southward to Goah.The whole valley where dead bodies and sacrificial ashes are thrown and all the terraced fields out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far north as the Horse Gate will be included within this city that is sacred to the LORD. The city will never again be torn down or destroyed.”

Hear what the LORD has to say, O nations. Proclaim it in the faraway lands along the sea. Say,“ The one who scattered Israel will regather them. He will watch over his people like a shepherd watches over his flock.”

“ You have surely noticed what these people are saying, haven’t you? They are saying,‘ The LORD has rejected the two families of Israel and Judah that he chose.’ So they have little regard that my people will ever again be a nation.But I, the LORD, make the following promise: I have made a covenant governing the coming of day and night. I have established the fixed laws governing heaven and earth.Just as surely as I have done this, so surely will I never reject the descendants of Jacob. Nor will I ever refuse to choose one of my servant David’s descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I will restore them and show mercy to them.”

I will signal for them and gather them, for I have already redeemed them; then they will become as numerous as they were before.Though I scatter them among the nations, they will remember in far-off places– they and their children will sprout forth and return.I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them to the lands of Gilead and Lebanon, for there will not be enough room for them in their own land.The LORD will cross the sea of storms and will calm its turbulence. The depths of the Nile will dry up, the pride of Assyria will be humbled, and the domination of Egypt will be no more.Thus I will strengthen them by my power, and they will walk about in my name,” says the LORD.

At that time the LORD will shake the tree, from the Euphrates River to the Stream of Egypt. Then you will be gathered up one by one, O Israelites.At that time a large trumpet will be blown, and the ones lost in the land of Assyria will come, as well as the refugees in the land of Egypt. They will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

Then the LORD will scatter you among the peoples and there will be very few of you among the nations where the LORD will drive you.There you will worship gods made by human hands– wood and stone that can neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.But if you seek the LORD your God from there, you will find him, if, indeed, you seek him with all your heart and soul.In your distress when all these things happen to you in the latter days, if you return to the LORD your God and obey him( for he is a merciful God), he will not let you down or destroy you, for he cannot forget the covenant with your ancestors that he confirmed by oath to them.

Then he will turn his attention to the coastal regions and will capture many of them. But a commander will bring his shameful conduct to a halt; in addition, he will make him pay for his shameful conduct.

The LORD spoke to Jeremiah concerning all the Judeans who were living in the land of Egypt, those in Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memphis, and in the region of southern Egypt.

And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:“ The Deliverer will come out of Zion; he will remove ungodliness from Jacob.

“ Therefore say:‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Although I have removed them far away among the nations and have dispersed them among the countries, I have been a little sanctuary for them among the lands where they have gone.’“ Therefore say:‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: When I regather you from the peoples and assemble you from the lands where you have been dispersed, I will give you back the country of Israel.’“ When they return to it, they will remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them; I will remove the hearts of stone from their bodies and I will give them tender hearts,so that they may follow my statutes and observe my regulations and carry them out. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
