A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

Jesse’s family is like a tree that has been cut down. A new little tree will grow from its stump. From its roots a Branch will grow and produce fruit.

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s root stock, a bud will sprout from his roots.

A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.

“ Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.

Then say to him,‘ The Lord of armies says this:“ Behold, there is a Man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the Lord.

After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said,‘ I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus,

And one of the elders* said to me,“ Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to be able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Now listen, Joshua, you high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you— indeed they are men who are a sign: for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch.

For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.

“ I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you of these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.

In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch of David sprout; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.

Again Isaiah says,“ There shall come the root of Jesse, And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, In Him will the Gentiles hope.”

On that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and the beauty of the survivors of Israel.

Then on that day The nations will resort to the root of Jesse, Who will stand as a signal flag for the peoples; And His resting place will be glorious.

Jesse fathered David the king. David fathered Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, and Abijah fathered Asa.Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat fathered Joram, and Joram fathered Uzziah.Uzziah fathered Jotham, Jotham fathered Ahaz, and Ahaz fathered Hezekiah.Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, and Amon fathered Josiah.Josiah fathered Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.After the deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah fathered Shealtiel, and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel.Zerubbabel fathered Abihud, Abihud fathered Eliakim, and Eliakim fathered Azor.Azor fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Achim, and Achim fathered Eliud.Eliud fathered Eleazar, Eleazar fathered Matthan, and Matthan fathered Jacob.Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.

Then Saul said to him,“ Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered,“ I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

( as it is written in the Law of the Lord:“ Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),and to offer a sacrifice according to what has been stated in the Law of the Lord:“ A pair of turtledoves or two young doves.”And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,“ Now, Lord, You are letting Your bond servant depart in peace, According to Your word;For my eyes have seen Your salvation,Which You have prepared in the presence of all the peoples:A light for revelation for the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

And the neighbor women gave him a name, saying,“ A son has been born to Naomi!” So they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
