惟亞述王不如是思維、心中不如是意念、乃欲毀滅諸國、欲殄絕淨盡、

But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations.

從前你們是要加害於我，但上帝有祂的美意，祂藉此保全許多人的性命，正如今日的光景。

現在許多國家一起來攻擊你們，說：「願錫安遭蹂躪，我們要看著錫安被毀滅。」他們卻不知道耶和華的心意，也不明白祂的計劃。祂聚集他們是要懲罰他們，像把禾捆堆積在麥場一樣。

上帝照著自己的計劃和預知把耶穌交在你們手裡，你們藉著邪惡之人的手把祂釘死在十字架上了。

可是耶路撒冷的人和他們的官長不知道耶穌是基督，雖然每個安息日都誦讀先知的信息，卻把基督判死罪。這正應驗了先知們的話。他們雖然找不到判祂死罪的理由，卻強求彼拉多將祂處死。祂受死的記載全部應驗之後，有人把祂從十字架上取下來，安放在石墓裡。但上帝卻使祂從死裡復活。

你肯定聽過亞述諸王掃滅列國的事，難道你能倖免嗎？我先祖毀滅了歌散、哈蘭、利色和提·拉撒的伊甸人，這些國家的神明救得了他們嗎？哈馬王、亞珥拔王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿王和以瓦王如今在哪裡呢？」

不要讓希西迦欺騙你們，以為耶和華必拯救你們。列國的神明中有哪個曾經從亞述王手中救他的國家呢？哈馬和亞珥拔的神明在哪裡呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪裡呢？他們從我手中救撒瑪利亞了嗎？這些國家的神明中有哪個曾從我手中救自己的國家呢？難道耶和華能從我手中救耶路撒冷嗎？』」
