但你的眾仇敵必像纖細的塵埃一樣消散，眾多的殘暴之徒必如被風颳去的糠秕。突然，刹那之間，萬軍之耶和華必帶著雷轟、地震、巨響、旋風、暴風和烈火來臨。攻打、圍困耶路撒冷及其堡壘的各國軍隊必如夢幻，如夜間的異象一樣消失。他們好像饑餓的人夢中吃飯，醒來仍然饑餓；像口渴的人夢中喝水，醒來仍然渴得發昏。攻打錫安山的各國軍隊結局都必如此。」

那時，羊群在那裡吃草，如在自己的草場，寄居者在富人的荒場上進食。

我要差來亞述王的軍隊，使他們像幼發拉底河的洪流一樣洶湧而來，淹沒一切水道，漫過河岸，

耶和華說：「我現在要施展大能，我必受尊崇。你們所謀的像糠秕，所行的如碎稭，毫無價值。你們的氣息會像火一樣燒滅你們自己。列邦必被燒成灰燼，好像割下的荊棘被火焚燒。」遠方的人啊，要聽一聽我的作為。近處的人啊，要承認我的大能。錫安的罪人恐懼，不敬虔的人顫抖。他們說：「我們誰能住在烈火中呢？誰能住在永不止息的火焰裡呢？」

他茂盛的樹林和肥美的田園必被徹底摧毀，猶如病人漸漸消亡。
