As one reaches into a nest, so my hand reached for the wealth of the nations; as people gather abandoned eggs, so I gathered all the countries; not one flapped a wing, or opened its mouth to chirp.’”

I’ve taken the wealth of the nations. It was as easy as reaching into a bird’s nest. I’ve gathered the riches of all these countries. It was as easy as gathering eggs that have been left in a nest. Not a single baby bird flapped its wings. Not one of them opened its mouth to chirp.’ ”

我若因資財之豐裕，因我手多有所得、而歡喜；

即使你高飛如大鷹，即使你在星辰間搭窩，就是從那裏、我也必將你拉下來：永恆主發神諭說。

你這住巖石的密洞中、雄據岡陵之高處的啊，你那令人戰慄的威風、你心中的傲慢氣、把你欺騙了。即使你如大鷹高高搭窩，就是從那裏我也必將你拉下：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

用虛謊舌頭得來的財寶、是吹來吹去的浮雲、死亡之網羅。惡人的暴戾必將自己帶走；因為他們不肯按公平而行。

有禍啊！那些使房屋連接房屋，使田地毗連田地，以致不留餘地，而你們只好獨居境內！

嘿，作買賣的！他手裏有詭詐的天平，他愛敲竹槓騙人。以法蓮為自己辯護說：『啊，我居然成了巨富了，我為自己得了貨財了』；但他獲得的利必不足以抵銷他所犯的罪。

還有呢、那詭詐的有禍啊！那倨傲的人、他必不得安居：他擴大其所慾像陰間，他好像死亡永不滿足；聚集列國人都歸自己，收拾萬族之民到他那裏。』這些國的人豈不都要唱起象徵歌和諷刺謎語來嘲弄他說：『那增加不屬自己之利息物的、有禍啊！——要到幾時為止呢？——那多多取人的當頭以肥己的、有禍啊！』那被你索取利息的、豈不忽然起來？那要大大攪動你的、豈不醒起？那你就做他們的擄物了！因你搶奪了許多國的財物，列族之民剩下的人、也都必搶奪你；因為你殺了人而流其血，又向國內、向都市和其中一切居民行了強暴、的緣故。為自己的家積蓄着不義的臭錢，去在高處搭窩，指望着安穩、免受災禍之掌握的、有禍啊！你剪除掉許多外族之民，圖謀使你的家蒙羞，而賠上你自己的性命。牆裏的石頭必哀呼，木寮中的椽子必應聲的。

人先心驕傲，然後遭破毁；要得尊榮、先要謙卑。

『搶銀子！搶金子！』儲備的無窮盡，各樣寶器很豐富啊！空空如也，空空、荒蕪！人人膽戰心驚，雙膝軟顫，腰都扭轉難過，臉都失色變青！獅子的洞在哪裏？少壯獅子的穴在何處？公獅母獅漫遊之地、少獅子之所在、無人驚嚇之處、都在何方呢？公獅為小獅子抓撕了足夠肉食，為母獅掐死活物；把抓撕的充滿其洞穴，把撕裂的塞滿其穴窟。萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：看哪，我與你為敵；我必將你的車輛焚燒成煙，刀劍也必吞滅你的少壯獅子；我必從地上除滅你所抓撕的，你使者的聲音必無可再聽見。有禍啊！這流人血的城！盡是謊詐，充滿着劫掠；搶奪的事總離不了。
