蓋爾必似枯葉之橡、無水之園、

譬彼橡樹、枝葉已枯、譬彼園囿、灌溉無資、爾其似之。

You will be like an oak with fading leaves, like a garden without water.

You will be like an oak tree whose leaves are dying. You will be like a garden that doesn’t have any water.

For you shall be like an oak whose leaf withers, and like a garden without water.

You will be like a great tree with withered leaves, like a garden without water.

For you will become like an oak whose leaves are withered, and like a garden without water.

For you will be like an oak whose leaf withers away, Or like a garden that has no water.

For you shall be as a terebinth whose leaf fades, And as a garden that has no water.

For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

For you will be like a tree whose leaves wither, like an orchard that is unwatered.

“ Say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it may wither; that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the beds where it grew.”’”

I will lay it a wasteland. It won’t be pruned or hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.”

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it,“ Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away.

The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. Its rivers ran all around its plantation; and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied. Its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it spread them out.All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs. Under its branches, all the animals of the field gave birth to their young. All great nations lived under its shadow.Thus was it beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it. The cypress trees were not like its boughs. The pine trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.’“ Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh:‘ Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him. I have driven him out for his wickedness.Strangers, the tyrants of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him. His branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow, and have left him.All the birds of the sky will dwell on his ruin, and all the animals of the field will be on his branches;to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, and don’t set their top among the thick boughs. Their mighty ones don’t stand up on their height, even all who drink water; for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, among the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.’“ The Lord Yahweh says:‘ In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning. I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers. The great waters were stopped. I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. All the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, who lived under his shadow in the middle of the nations.“‘ To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth. You will lie in the middle of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword.“‘ This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”

All the trees of the field will know that I, Yahweh, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish.“‘ I, Yahweh, have spoken and have done it.’”

They will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of Yahweh, to the grain, to the new wine, to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd. Their soul will be as a watered garden. They will not sorrow any more at all.

Yahweh says:“ Cursed is the man who trusts in man, relies on strength of flesh, and whose heart departs from Yahweh.For he will be like a bush in the desert, and will not see when good comes, but will inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, an uninhabited salt land.

and Yahweh will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.
