The Lord says,“ People of Samaria, throw out your god that looks like a calf! I am very angry with them. How long will it be until they are able to remain faithful to me?

撒玛利亚啊，耶和华已经丢弃你的牛犊；我的怒气向拜牛犊的人发作。他们到几时方能无罪呢？

撒瑪利亞啊，我屏棄了你的牛犢；我向撒瑪利亞人發怒。以色列人到幾時才能無辜免罰呢？

撒馬利亞人拜犢像、作可惡之事、我深痛疾、爾不向善、伊於何底、

撒瑪利亞乎、爾犢犢即耶羅波安所立之金犢奉以為神者見列王上十二章二十八節已棄爾、已棄爾或作甚為可憎我向斯民震怒甚烈、彼何時方能無罪、彼何時方能無罪或作彼不自潔將至何時

Samaria, throw out your calf- idol! My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of purity?

I have spurned your calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?

“ O Samaria, I reject this calf— this idol you have made. My fury burns against you. How long will you be incapable of innocence?

Your calf-idol is rejected, Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?

He has rejected your calf, Samaria, saying,“ My anger burns against them!” How long will they be incapable of innocence?

Your calf is rejected, O Samaria! My anger is aroused against them— How long until they attain to innocence?

He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

Your calf-idol is rejected, Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?

Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast[ thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long[ will it be] ere they attain to innocency?

O Samaria, he has rejected your calf idol! My anger burns against them! They will not survive much longer without being punished, even though they are Israelites!

Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?

The people who live in Samaria are filled with fear. They are afraid for their god that looks like a calf. They’re afraid it will be carried off from Beth Aven, that evil town. They will mourn over it. So will the priests who led them to worship it. The priests were full of joy because their statue was so glorious. But it will be captured and taken far away from them.

They will see that you have not been faithful to me. You have committed adultery with other gods. And you have acted like a prostitute who does not have any shame. I have seen what you did on the hills and in the fields. And I hate it. How terrible it will be for you, Jerusalem! How long will you choose to be‘ unclean’?”

“ How long will you childish people love your childish ways? How long will you rude people enjoy making fun of God and others? How long will you foolish people hate knowledge?

Their calf is not God. A skilled worker from Israel made it. But that calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.”

The Lord took control of Israel away from the royal house of David. The Israelites made Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, their king. Jeroboam tried to get Israel to stop following the Lord. He caused them to commit a terrible sin.The Israelites were stubborn. They continued to commit all the sins Jeroboam had committed. They didn’t turn away from them.So the Lord removed them from his land. That’s what he had warned them he would do. He had given that warning through all his servants the prophets. So the people of Israel were taken away from their country. They were forced to go to Assyria. And that’s where they still are.

My anger will start a fire. It will burn all the way down to the kingdom of the dead. It will eat up the earth and its crops. It will set the base of the mountains on fire.

“ Come together, you people of the nations who escaped from Babylon. Gather together and come into court. Only people who do not know anything would carry around gods that are made out of wood. They pray to false gods that can’t save them.

That was the time they made a statue to be their god. It was shaped like a calf. They brought sacrifices to it. They even enjoyed what they had made with their own hands.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire. They practiced all kinds of evil magic. They gave up following God’s rules. They did only what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. All these things made him very angry.So the Lord was very angry with Israel. He removed them from his land. Only the tribe of Judah was left.

People of Jerusalem, wash your sins from your hearts and be saved. How long will you hold on to your evil thoughts?
