The people of Israel are stubborn. They are as stubborn as a young cow. So how can I take care of them like lambs in a meadow?

以色列倔強，猶如倔強的母牛；現在耶和華要放他們，如同放羊羔在寬闊之地。

蓋以色列倔強、若桀驁之牝犢、今耶和華豈牧之、如牧羔羊於廣處乎、

以色列族若崛強之牛、退縮不前、我耶和華必放之曠野、若無牧之羔、

以色列族倔強、若倔強之牝牛、今主將牧之、若羊於廣闊之處、

The Israelites are stubborn, like a stubborn heifer. How then can the Lord pasture them like lambs in a meadow?

Like a stubborn heifer, Israel is stubborn; can the Lord now feed them like a lamb in a broad pasture?

Israel is stubborn, like a stubborn heifer. So should the Lord feed her like a lamb in a lush pasture?

For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn cow. Can the LORD now shepherd them like a lamb in an open meadow?

Since Israel is stubborn Like a stubborn cow, Will the Lord now pasture them Like a lamb in a large field?

“ For Israel is stubborn Like a stubborn calf; Now the Lord will let them forage Like a lamb in open country.

For Israel hath behaved himself stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer: now will Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.

For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn cow. Can the Lord now shepherd them like a lamb in an open meadow?

For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

Israel has rebelled like a stubborn heifer! Soon the LORD will put them out to pasture like a lamb in a broad field!

For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow.

I gave Israel their letter of divorce. I sent them away because they were unfaithful to me so many times. But I saw that their sister nation Judah did not have any respect for me. They were not faithful to me either. They also went out and committed adultery with other gods.

I will scatter you among the nations. I will pull out my sword and hunt you down. Your land and your cities will be completely destroyed.

But they refused to pay attention to the Lord. They were stubborn. They turned their backs and covered their ears.

Then why have the people of Jerusalem turned away from me? Why do they always turn away? They keep on telling lies. They refuse to come back to me.

So a lion from the forest will attack them. A wolf from the desert will destroy them. A leopard will hide and wait near their towns. It will tear to pieces anyone who dares to go out. Again and again they have refused to obey the Lord. They have turned away from him many times.

The Lord said to me,“ Israel and Judah have not been faithful to me. But Israel was not as bad as Judah was.

Lord, our sins are a witness against us. But do something for the honor of your name. We have often turned away from you. We’ve sinned against you.

He will roll you up tightly like a ball. He will throw you into a very large country. There you will die. And that’s where the chariots you were so proud of will be. Those chariots will then bring nothing but shame on your master’s family!

But they did not listen. They refused to pay any attention to me. Instead, they did what their stubborn and evil hearts wanted them to do. They went backward and not forward.

During the time Josiah was king, the Lord spoke to me. He said,“ Have you seen what the people of Israel have done? They have not been faithful to me. They have committed adultery with other gods. They worshiped them on every high hill and under every green tree.

My people have made up their minds to turn away from me. Even if they call me the Most High God, I will certainly not honor them.”

“ I am very sad I have made Saul king. He has turned away from me. He has not done what I directed him to do.” When Samuel heard that, he was angry. He cried out to the Lord during that whole night.

At that time a person may only be able to keep alive one young cow and two goats.But they will give plenty of milk to live on. In fact, everyone left in the land will only have milk curds and honey to eat.The land used to have vineyards with 1,000 vines worth 25 pounds of silver. But soon the whole land will be covered with thorns and bushes.Hunters will go there with bows and arrows. That’s because it will be covered with bushes and thorns.All the hills used to be plowed with hoes. But you won’t go there anymore. That’s because you will be afraid of the thorns and bushes. Cattle will be turned loose on those hills. Sheep will also run there.

Then sheep will graze as if they were in their own grasslands. Lambs will eat grass among the destroyed buildings where rich people used to live.
