耶和華使大地震動的時候，眾人躲進岩穴，藏入地洞，逃避祂的憤怒和威榮。

為我百姓那長滿荊棘和蒺藜的土地，為那曾經充滿歡樂的城邑和家庭哀哭吧！

這罪使耶羅波安家走向沒落，最終徹底滅亡。

耶和華說：「要在基比亞吹角，在拉瑪鳴號，在伯·亞文呐喊，便雅憫啊，敵人就在你身後！

「雖然以色列如同妓女，對我不忠，但不要使猶大犯罪。不要到吉甲去，不要到伯·亞文去，不要憑永活的耶和華起誓。

我焚燒了你們鑄造的罪惡之物——牛犢像，把它磨成細粉，撒在從山上流下來的溪水中。

他拆掉伯特利高崗上的祭壇，即尼八的兒子耶羅波安誘使以色列人犯罪時建造的祭壇，把祭壇燒毀，搗碎成灰，又焚燒亞舍拉神像。

那裡的宮殿荊棘叢生，蒺藜、刺草遍佈堅城，成了野狗的巢穴和鴕鳥的住處。

他們在山頂和高崗上的橡樹、楊樹和栗樹下獻祭燒香，因為樹蔭怡人。「所以，你們的女兒賣淫，你們的兒媳通姦。
