There arose therefore a questioning on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about purifying.And they came unto John, and said to him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead?

having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and unjust.

that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:which also after a true likeness doth now save you, even baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

being sore troubled because they taught the people, and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

For we must all be made manifest before the judgment- seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.

And as they went on the way, they came unto a certain water; and the eunuch saith, Behold, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question before you this day.

but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not wherewith to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.

Ye leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men.

And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner.

John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:

men who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some.

But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die, yet shall he live;
