This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

且吾人之所有、非一不能體恤吾人荏弱之大司祭也。彼實身受百般磨練一如吾人第無罪耳。

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are— yet he did not sin.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.

Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

That evening many demon possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said,“ He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

And he is able to deal gently with ignorant and wayward people because he himself is subject to the same weaknesses.

Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why don’t you believe me?

He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.

“ You must not oppress foreigners. You know what it’s like to be a foreigner, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.

“ You have stayed with me in my time of trial.

“ Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.

He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious.

where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.
