fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

“ And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:‘ The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.

Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

When he had gone out, Jesus said,“ Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.

For David says concerning him,“‘ I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; my flesh also will dwell in hope.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!

Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.”

even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said,“ I believe; help my unbelief!”

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

The apostles said to the Lord,“ Increase our faith!”

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said,“ Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you,since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.

Then they spit in his face and struck him. And some slapped him,saying,“ Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who is it that struck you?”

And he said to them,“ Elijah does come first to restore all things. And how is it written of the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate.

And he said,“ Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting.But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying,“ He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!”The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wineand saying,“ If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”There was also an inscription over him,“ This is the King of the Jews.”One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying,“ Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!”

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

he says:“ It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation, the servant of rulers:“ Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

“ And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

( for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

saying,“ Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord says to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”

You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you.Reproaches have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,“ who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying,“ Fear not, I am the first and the last,

And to which of the angels has he ever said,“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?

sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated.

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.

Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,“ Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.Then I said,‘ Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”When he said above,“ You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings”( these are offered according to the law),then he added,“ Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second.And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people.All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;“ He trusts in the Lord; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!”

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s headquarters, and they gathered the whole battalion before him.And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him.As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross.And when they came to a place called Golgotha( which means Place of a Skull),they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it.And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.Then they sat down and kept watch over him there.And over his head they put the charge against him, which read,“ This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.And those who passed by derided him, wagging their headsand saying,“ You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is,“ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said,“ This man is calling Elijah.”And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.But the others said,“ Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.”And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

“ See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to deathand deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something.
