By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Abel had faith. So he brought to God a better offering than Cain did. Because of his faith Abel was praised as a godly man. God said good things about his offerings. Because of his faith Abel still speaks. He speaks even though he is dead.

有一天，該隱把地裡的出產拿來，當作禮物獻給耶和華。亞伯也把自己羊群中一些頭生的，和羊的脂油拿來獻上。耶和華看中了亞伯和他的禮物；只是沒有看中該隱和他的禮物。該隱就非常忿怒，垂頭喪氣。

所以，從義人亞伯的血起，到巴拉加的兒子撒迦利亞的血為止，他就是你們在聖所和祭壇中間所殺的，所有義人在地上所流的血，都要歸在你們身上。

我們應當彼此相愛，因為這是你們從起初聽見的信息。不要像該隱，他是屬於那惡者的，他又殺了自己的弟弟。為甚麼殺他呢？因為他自己的行為是惡的，弟弟的行為是義的。

耶和華說：“你作了甚麼事呢？你弟弟的血有聲音從地裡向我呼叫。

有新約的中保耶穌，還有他所灑的血。這血所傳的信息比亞伯的血所傳的更美。

惡人的祭物是耶和華厭惡的；正直人的禱告卻是他所喜悅的。

他們有禍了，因為他們走上了該隱的道路，又為了財利闖進巴蘭的歧途，並且在可拉的背叛中滅亡了。

惡人的祭物是耶和華所厭惡的，更何況是懷著惡念來獻的呢？

該隱對他的弟弟亞伯說：“我們到田間去吧。”﹙《馬索拉文本》缺“我們到田間去吧”一句，現參照其他抄本及古譯本補上。﹚，該隱就起來襲擊他的弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。

有火從耶和華面前出來，燒盡了祭壇上的燔祭和脂肪；眾民看見了，就大聲歡呼，俯伏在地。

按著律法，幾乎所有都是用血潔淨的，如果沒有流血，就沒有赦免。

耶和華對該隱說：“絕不會這樣，殺該隱的，必遭報七倍。”耶和華就給該隱立了一個記號，免得遇見他的人擊殺他。

亞當又和妻子同房，她就生了一個兒子，給他起名叫塞特，因為她說：“神給我立了另一個後裔代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。”

所以，我們既然有這麼多的見證人，像雲彩圍繞著我們，就應該脫下各樣的拖累，和容易纏住我們的罪，以堅忍的心奔跑那擺在我們面前的賽程；

於是有耶和華的火降下來，吞滅了燔祭、木柴、石頭和塵土，連溝裡的水也燒乾了。

他們聲稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他。他們是可憎的、悖逆的，在各樣的善事上，是毫無用處的。
