LORD, I have heard the report of what you did; I am awed, LORD, by what you accomplished. In our time repeat those deeds; in our time reveal them again. But when you cause turmoil, remember to show us mercy!

He will restore us in a very short time; he will heal us in a little while, so that we may live in his presence.So let us acknowledge him! Let us seek to acknowledge the LORD! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.”

Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD! Wake up as in former times, as in antiquity! Did you not smash the Proud One? Did you not wound the sea monster?Did you not dry up the sea, the waters of the great deep? Did you not make a path through the depths of the sea, so those delivered from bondage could cross over?Those whom the LORD has ransomed will return; they will enter Zion with a happy shout. Unending joy will crown them, happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and suffering will disappear.

Turn back toward us, O LORD! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love! I listened and my stomach churned; the sound made my lips quiver. My frame went limp, as if my bones were decaying, and I shook as I tried to walk. I long for the day of distress to come upon the people who attack us.

Look down from heaven and take notice, from your holy, majestic palace! Where are your zeal and power? Do not hold back your tender compassion!For you are our father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not recognize us. You, LORD, are our father; you have been called our protector from ancient times.Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways, and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance!For a short time your special nation possessed a land, but then our adversaries knocked down your holy sanctuary.We existed from ancient times, but you did not rule over them, they were not your subjects.If only you would tear apart the sky and come down! The mountains would tremble before you!( 64: 1) As when fire ignites dry wood, or fire makes water boil, let your adversaries know who you are, and may the nations shake at your presence!When you performed awesome deeds that took us by surprise, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who intervenes for those who wait for him.

My body trembles because I fear you; I am afraid of your judgments.ע( Ayin)

For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

In a burst of anger I rejected you momentarily, but with lasting devotion I will have compassion on you,” says your protector, the LORD.

“ For the LORD says,‘ Only when the seventy years of Babylonian rule are over will I again take up consideration for you. Then I will fulfill my gracious promise to you and restore you to your homeland.

The angel of the LORD then asked,“ LORD who rules over all, how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?”

This whole area will become a desolate wasteland. These nations will be subject to the king of Babylon for seventy years.’“‘ But when the seventy years are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation for their sins. I will make the land of Babylon an everlasting ruin. I, the LORD, affirm it!

Correct us, LORD, but only in due measure. Do not punish us in anger or you will reduce us to nothing.

Then Moses said to Aaron,“ Take the censer, put burning coals from the altar in it, place incense on it, and go quickly into the assembly and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the LORD– the plague has begun!”So Aaron did as Moses commanded and ran into the middle of the assembly, where the plague was just beginning among the people. So he placed incense on the coals and made atonement for the people.

“ But now briefly we have received mercy from the LORD our God, in that he has left us a remnant and has given us a secure position in his holy place. Thus our God has enlightened our eyes and has given us a little relief in our time of servitude.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

Even when I must walk in the midst of danger, you revive me. You oppose my angry enemies, and your right hand delivers me.The LORD avenges me. O LORD, your loyal love endures. Do not abandon those whom you have made!

O God, we have clearly heard; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in ancient times.

David felt guilty after he had numbered the army. David said to the LORD,“ I have sinned greatly by doing this! Now, O LORD, please remove the guilt of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”When David got up the next morning, the LORD had already spoken to Gad the prophet, David’s seer:“ Go, tell David,‘ This is what the LORD says: I am offering you three forms of judgment. Pick one of them and I will carry it out against you.’”Gad went to David and told him,“ Shall seven years of famine come upon your land? Or shall you flee for three months from your enemy with him in hot pursuit? Or shall there be three days of plague in your land? Now decide what I should tell the one who sent me.”David said to Gad,“ I am very upset! I prefer that we be attacked by the LORD, for his mercy is great; I do not want to be attacked by men!”So the LORD sent a plague through Israel from the morning until the completion of the appointed time. Seventy thousand men died from Dan to Beer Sheba.When the angel extended his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented from his judgment. He told the angel who was killing the people,“ That’s enough! Stop now!”( Now the LORD’s angel was near the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.)When he saw the angel who was destroying the people, David said to the LORD,“ Look, it is I who have sinned and done this evil thing! As for these sheep– what have they done? Attack me and my family.”

However, the whole community threatened to stone them. But the glory of the LORD appeared to all the Israelites at the tent of meeting.The LORD said to Moses,“ How long will this people despise me, and how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs that I have done among them?I will strike them with the pestilence, and I will disinherit them; I will make you into a nation that is greater and mightier than they!”Moses said to the LORD,“ When the Egyptians hear it– for you brought up this people by your power from among them–then they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, LORD, are among this people, that you, LORD, are seen face to face, that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them by day in a pillar of cloud and in a pillar of fire by night.If you kill this entire people at once, then the nations that have heard of your fame will say,‘ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to them, he killed them in the wilderness.’So now, let the power of my Lord be great, just as you have said,‘ The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loyal love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children until the third and fourth generations.’Please forgive the iniquity of this people according to your great loyal love, just as you have forgiven this people from Egypt even until now.”Then the LORD said,“ I have forgiven them as you asked.But truly, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD.For all the people have seen my glory and my signs that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have tempted me now these ten times, and have not obeyed me,they will by no means see the land that I swore to their fathers, nor will any of them who despised me see it.

Yet he is compassionate. He forgives sin and does not destroy. He often holds back his anger, and does not stir up his fury.

“ Look at the nations and pay attention! You will be shocked and amazed! For I will do something in your lifetime that you will not believe even though you are forewarned.Look, I am about to empower the Babylonians, that ruthless and greedy nation. They sweep across the surface of the earth, seizing dwelling places that do not belong to them.They are frightening and terrifying; they decide for themselves what is right.Their horses are faster than leopards and more alert than wolves in the desert. Their horses gallop, their horses come a great distance; like a vulture they swoop down quickly to devour their prey.All of them intend to do violence; every face is determined. They take prisoners as easily as one scoops up sand.They mock kings and laugh at rulers. They laugh at every fortified city; they build siege ramps and capture them.

“ Now a word was secretly brought to me, and my ear caught a whisper of it.In the troubling thoughts of the dreams in the night when a deep sleep falls on men,a trembling gripped me– and a terror!– and made all my bones shake.Then a breath of air passes by my face; it makes the hair of my flesh stand up.It stands still, but I cannot recognize its appearance; an image is before my eyes, and I hear a murmuring voice:“ Is a mortal man righteous before God? Or a man pure before his Creator?If God puts no trust in his servants and attributes folly to his angels,how much more to those who live in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed like a moth?They are destroyed between morning and evening; they perish forever without anyone regarding it.Is not their excess wealth taken away from them? They die, yet without attaining wisdom.

So now, leave me alone so that my anger can burn against them and I can destroy them, and I will make from you a great nation.”But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God and said,“ O LORD, why does your anger burn against your people, whom you have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?Why should the Egyptians say,‘ For evil he led them out to kill them in the mountains and to destroy them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger, and relent of this evil against your people.

Those of Pharaoh’s servants who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their servants and livestock into the houses,but those who did not take the word of the LORD seriously left their servants and their cattle in the field.

Who will not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name, because you alone are holy? All nations will come and worship before you for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Who would have believed what we just heard? When was the LORD’s power revealed through him?

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says,“ Lord, who has believed our report?”

LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger! Do not discipline me in your raging fury!Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am frail! Heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking!

in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, came to understand from the sacred books that, according to the word of the LORD disclosed to the prophet Jeremiah, the years for the fulfilling of the desolation of Jerusalem were seventy in number.

The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. He went and got it from the room of Elishama, the royal secretary. Then he himself read it to the king and all the officials who were standing around him.Since it was the ninth month of the year, the king was sitting in his winter quarters. A fire was burning in the firepot in front of him.As soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king would cut them off with a penknife and throw them on the fire in the firepot. He kept doing so until the whole scroll was burned up in the fire.Neither he nor any of his attendants showed any alarm when they heard all that had been read. Nor did they tear their clothes to show any grief or sorrow.

‘ You displayed a sensitive spirit and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words concerning this place and its residents. You humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes and wept before me, and I have heard you,’ says the LORD.‘ Therefore I will allow you to die and be buried in peace. You will not have to witness all the disaster I will bring on this place and its residents.’”’” Then they reported back to the king.

O LORD, do not continue to rebuke me in your anger! Do not continue to punish me in your raging fury!

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of King Jehoiachin of Judah, on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month, Evil-Merodach, in the first year of his reign, pardoned King Jehoiachin of Judah and released him from prison.He spoke kindly to him and gave him a more prestigious position than the other kings who were with him in Babylon.Jehoiachin took off his prison clothes and ate daily in the king’s presence for the rest of his life.He was given daily provisions by the king of Babylon for the rest of his life until the day he died.

By faith Noah, when he was warned about things not yet seen, with reverent regard constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family. Through faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

In fact, the scene was so terrifying that Moses said,“ I shudder with fear.”

So he approached the place where I was standing. As he came, I felt terrified and fell flat on the ground. Then he said to me,“ Understand, son of man, that the vision pertains to the time of the end.”
