Will not your creditors suddenly arise? Will they not wake up and make you tremble? Then you will become their prey.

Those you owe money to will suddenly rise up. They will wake up and make you tremble with fear. Then they will take away everything you have.

Will not your debtors suddenly arise, and those awake who will make you tremble? Then you will be spoil for them.

Suddenly, your debtors will take action. They will turn on you and take all you have, while you stand trembling and helpless.

Won’t your creditors suddenly arise, and those who disturb you wake up? Then you will become spoil for them.

Will your creditors not rise up suddenly, And those who collect from you awaken? Indeed, you will become plunder for them.

Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty.

Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them?

A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.For while[ they be] folden together[ as] thorns, and while they are drunken[ as] drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device[ is] against Babylon, to destroy it; because it[ is] the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise[ men], her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name[ is] the LORD of hosts.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which[ will] not[ be] charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.

And this[ is] the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.This[ is] the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and[ put] a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.And Darius the Median took the kingdom,[ being] about threescore and two years old.

He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call[ thee] by thy name,[ am] the God of Israel.

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and[ as for] gold, they shall not delight in it.[ Their] bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken[ it], I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed[ it], I will also do it.

Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly,[ which] thou shalt not know.

I have raised up[ one] from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as[ upon] morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these[ things]? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm[ shall be on] the Chaldeans.I,[ even] I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger,[ even] them that rejoice in my highness.The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.They come from a far country, from the end of heaven,[ even] the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
