“ Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.

They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction of idols is but wood!

They are turned back and utterly put to shame, who trust in carved idols, who say to metal images,“ You are our gods.”

All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame.Who fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing?

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see;they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them.

“ Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you survivors of the nations! They have no knowledge who carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a god that cannot save.

But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

for the customs of the peoples are vanity.
