工人雕木偶、鑄金像、俱屬虛偽、口不能言、作之者亦賴之、何益之有、

工人雕刻之偶像、何益之有、鑄像與偽師、偽師或作述虛誑之師何益之有、工人作不能言之偶像、賴己所作者、何益之有、或作工人所雕刻之偶像所鎔鑄之偶像虛偽不能應所作之偶像口不能言作之者賴之何益之有

“ Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.

“ If someone carves a statue of a god, what is it worth? What value is there in a god that teaches lies? The one who trusts in this kind of god worships his own creation. He makes statues of gods that can’t speak.

“ What profit is an idol when its maker has shaped it, a metal image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his own creation when he makes speechless idols!

“ What good is an idol carved by man, or a cast image that deceives you? How foolish to trust in your own creation— a god that can’t even talk!

What good is an idol? Why would a craftsman make it? What good is a metal image that gives misleading oracles? Why would its creator place his trust in it and make such mute, worthless things?

“ What value does the engraved image have, that its maker has engraved it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he who fashions its form trusts in it, to make mute idols?

But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock.

They shall be turned back, they shall be utterly put to shame, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images, Ye are our gods.

They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know: that they may be put to shame.Who hath fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing?

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands.They have mouths, but they speak not; Eyes have they, but they see not;They have ears, but they hear not; Neither is there any breath in their mouths.They that make them shall be like unto them; Yea, every one that trusteth in them.

They shall be put to shame, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go into confusion together that are makers of idols.

who say to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth; their idols are upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: the things that ye carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary beast.They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.

Every man is become brutish and is without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his graven image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the holm- tree and the oak, and strengtheneth for himself one among the trees of the forest: he planteth a fir- tree, and the rain doth nourish it.Then shall it be for a man to burn; and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread: yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied; yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire.And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image; he falleth down unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.They know not, neither do they consider: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.And none calleth to mind, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that carry the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.

What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe.They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.They are like a palm- tree, of turned work, and speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.

and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four- footed beasts, and creeping things.Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone:

even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:

Declare ye among the nations and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is dismayed; her images are put to shame, her idols are dismayed.

But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;

Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; they fall down, yea, they worship.They bear it upon the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it standeth, from its place shall it not remove: yea, one may cry unto it, yet can it not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
