Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.

Why do you make me watch while people treat others so unfairly? Why do you put up with the wrong things they are doing? I have to look at death. People are harming others. They are arguing and fighting all the time.

Must I forever see these evil deeds? Why must I watch all this misery? Wherever I look, I see destruction and violence. I am surrounded by people who love to argue and fight.

Why do you force me to look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Oppression and violence are right in front of me. Strife is ongoing, and conflict escalates.

Why do You make me see disaster, And make me look at destitution? Yes, devastation and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises.

Oh that I had in the desert a travelers’ lodging place, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, a company of treacherous men.They bend their tongue like a bow; falsehood and not truth has grown strong in the land; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me, declares the Lord.Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.Everyone deceives his neighbor, and no one speaks the truth; they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves committing iniquity.Heaping oppression upon oppression, and deceit upon deceit, they refuse to know me, declares the Lord.

If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.

( for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard);

Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace.

“ Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek.They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment.Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies.They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.

Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them.

And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions. Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.
