He also says,“ In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” (niv)

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,“ My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” (niv)

How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede. (niv)

I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he brandishes it against Egypt. (niv)

In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.Has the Lord struck her as he struck down those who struck her? Has she been killed as those were killed who killed her?By warfare and exile you contend with her— with his fierce blast he drives her out, as on a day the east wind blows.By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned for, and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones to be like limestone crushed to pieces, no Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.The fortified city stands desolate, an abandoned settlement, forsaken like the wilderness; there the calves graze, there they lie down; they strip its branches bare. “ Have you not noticed that these people are saying,‘ The Lord has rejected the two kingdoms he chose’? which said:“ Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” (niv)

“ Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord,“ I will not destroy you completely. (niv)

For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy:“ I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. (niv)
