神观看大地，看见世界已经败坏了；全人类在地上所行的都是败坏的。

神从天上察看世人，要看看有明慧的没有，有寻求神的没有，他们各人都偏离了正道，一同变成污秽；没有行善的，连一个也没有。

愚顽人心里说：“没有神。”他们都是败坏，行了可憎的事，没有一个行善的。（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）耶和华从天上察看世人，要看看有明慧的没有，有寻求神的没有。人人都偏离了正道，一同变成污秽；没有行善的，连一个也没有。

你要谨守古往的道，就是恶人所行走的吗？他们未到时候，就被抓去，他们的根基被洪水冲去。他们对神说：‘离开我们吧！全能者能把我们怎么样呢？’

他在人面前歌唱，说：‘我犯了罪，颠倒是非，但我没有受到应得的报应。

耶和华从天上观看，他看见全人类。从自己的住处，他察看地上所有的居民。

他藉这灵也曾去向那些在监管中的灵宣讲，他们就是挪亚建造方舟的日子、神容忍等待的时候，那些不顺从的人。当时进入方舟、藉着水得救的人不多，只有八个。

耶和华的眼目无所不在；坏人好人他都鉴察。

在那些日子和以后的日子，有巨人在地上；神的儿子和人的女子结合，就生了上古英武有名的人物。耶和华看见人在地上的罪恶很大，终日心里思念的，尽都是邪恶的。

神也没有姑息上古的世界，反而使洪水临到那不敬虔的世人，只保存了传义道的挪亚一家八口。

彩虹在云彩中出现，我看见了就记念我与地上一切有生命的活物，所立的永约。”神对挪亚说：“这就是我与地上凡有生命的立约的记号。”

所有的人都要看见神的救恩。’”

神说：“这就是我与你们，与一切跟你们同在有生命的活物所立之约的记号，直到万代；

我现在要下去，看看他们所行的，是不是全像那声闻于我的控告；如果不是，我也会知道的。”

耶和华对挪亚说：“你和你全家都要进入方舟，因为在这世代中，我见只有你在我面前是个义人。

只有挪亚在耶和华眼前蒙恩。

凡有生命仍在地上行动的，无论是飞鸟或是牲畜，走兽或是在地上滋生的各样小生物，以及所有的人都死了；
