He said,‘ Here’s what you must say to Joseph. Tell him,“ I’m asking you to forgive your brothers. Forgive the terrible things they did to you. Forgive them for treating you so badly.” ’ Now then, please forgive our sins. We serve the God of your father.” When their message came to Joseph, he wept.

『你們要對約瑟這樣說：從前你哥哥們惡待你，求你饒恕他們的過犯和罪惡。』現在求你饒恕你父親之神的僕人們的過犯。」他們對約瑟說這話時，約瑟就哭了。

當謂約瑟曰、昔諸昆惡待於爾、請宥諸昆之罪、我儕為汝父上帝之僕、請赦我過、言間、約瑟哭焉、

昔諸昆仲、待汝不善、吾今令爾宥其過、惟我儕為汝父上帝之僕、請赦我罪、約瑟聞言而哭。

當如是語約瑟云、昔爾諸兄待爾不善、我命爾赦其過、宥其罪、我儕為爾父之天主之僕、今求赦我罪、諸兄向約瑟言之、約瑟哭、

‘ This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept.

‘ Say to Joseph,“ Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

to say to you:‘ Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you— for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept.

‘ Say this to Joseph: Please forgive your brothers’ transgression and their sin— the suffering they caused you.’ Therefore, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when their message came to him.

‘ This is what you shall say to Joseph:“ Please forgive, I beg you, the offense of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.” ’ And now, please forgive the offense of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

‘ Thus you shall say to Joseph:“ I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.”’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for that they did unto thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

‘ Say this to Joseph: Please forgive your brothers’ transgression and their sin— the suffering they caused you.’ Therefore, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when their message came to him.

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

‘ Tell Joseph this: Please forgive the sin of your brothers and the wrong they did when they treated you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sin of the servants of the God of your father.” When this message was reported to him, Joseph wept.

‘ You shall tell Joseph,“ Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

Forgive other people when they sin against you. If you do, your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive the sins of other people, your Father will not forgive your sins.

So confess your sins to one another. Pray for one another so that you might be healed. The prayer of a godly person is powerful. Things happen because of it.

The other ten disciples heard about it. They became angry at James and John.

Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive one another, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done.

You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient.Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.

“ The King will reply,‘ What I’m about to tell you is true. Anything you did for one of the least important of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

So when we can do good to everyone, let us do it. Let’s try even harder to do good to the family of believers.

Joseph said to his brothers,“ Come close to me.” So they did. Then he said,“ I am your brother Joseph. I’m the one you sold into Egypt.But don’t be upset. And don’t be angry with yourselves because you sold me here. God sent me ahead of you to save many lives.

“ So then, it wasn’t you who sent me here. It was God. He made me like a father to Pharaoh. He made me master of Pharaoh’s entire house. God made me ruler of the whole land of Egypt.

You planned to harm me. But God planned it for good. He planned to do what is now being done. He wanted to save many lives.

So watch what you do.“ If your brother or sister sins against you, tell them they are wrong. Then if they turn away from their sins, forgive them.Suppose they sin against you seven times in one day. And suppose they come back to you each time and say,‘ I’m sorry.’ You must forgive them.”

Joseph, your father’s God helps you. The Mighty God blesses you. He gives you blessings from the sky above. He gives you blessings from the deep springs below. He blesses you with children and with a mother’s milk.

Suppose someone gives even a cup of cold water to a little one who follows me. What I’m about to tell you is true. That person will certainly be rewarded.”

And forgive us our sins, just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

They said to one another,“ God is surely punishing us because of our brother. We saw how upset he was when he begged us to let him live. But we wouldn’t listen. That’s why all this trouble has come to us.”Reuben replied,“ Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we’re being paid back for killing him.”They didn’t realize that Joseph could understand what they were saying. He was using someone else to explain their words to him in the Egyptian language.Joseph turned away from his brothers and began to weep. Then he came back and spoke to them again. He had Simeon taken and tied up right there in front of them.

Anyone who hides their sins doesn’t succeed. But anyone who admits their sins and gives them up finds mercy.

Then that person will come to others and say,‘ I sinned. I made what is wrong appear to be right. But I wasn’t punished as I should have been.God has set me free. He has kept me from going down into the darkness of the grave. So I’ll live to enjoy the light of life.’

Because of the authority Christ has given me, I could be bold. I could order you to do what you should do anyway.But we love each other. And I would rather appeal to you on the basis of that love. I, Paul, am an old man. I am now also a prisoner because of Christ Jesus.I am an old man, and I’m in prison. This is how I make my appeal to you for my son Onesimus. He became a son to me while I was being held in chains.Before that, he was useless to you. But now he has become useful to you and to me.I’m sending Onesimus back to you. All my love for him goes with him.I’m being held in chains because of the good news. So I would have liked to keep Onesimus with me. And he could take your place in helping me.But I didn’t want to do anything unless you agreed. Any favor you do must be done because you want to do it, not because you have to.Onesimus was separated from you for a little while. Maybe that was so you could have him back forever.You could have him back not as a slave. Instead, he would be better than a slave. He would be a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even more dear to you. He is dear to you not only as another human being. He is also dear to you as a brother in the Lord.Do you think of me as a believer who works together with you? Then welcome Onesimus as you would welcome me.Has he done anything wrong to you? Does he owe you anything? Then charge it to me.I’ll pay it back. I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I won’t even mention that you owe me your life.My brother, we both belong to the Lord. So I wish I could receive some benefit from you. Renew my heart. We know that Christ is the one who really renews it.

May peace and mercy be given to all who follow this rule. May peace and mercy be given to the Israel that belongs to God.

“ This is how my Father in heaven will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

Your enemies make evil plans against you. They think up evil things to do. But they can’t succeed.

But the God of my father was with me. He is the God of Abraham and the God Isaac worshiped. If he hadn’t been with me, you would surely have sent me away without anything to show for all my work. But God has seen my hard times. He has seen all the work my hands have done. So last night he warned you.”
