So Jacob’s sons did exactly as he had commanded them.

雅各的儿子们就遵着他父亲所吩咐的办了，

雅各的儿子们遵照父亲的吩咐去办了，

雅各的儿子们遵照父亲的吩咐去办了，

以色列的儿子们遵照父亲的遗言，

雅各的众子就照着父亲嘱咐他们的去作，

这样，雅各的儿子们就照着父亲吩咐他们的为他去做：

雅各的兒子們就遵着他父親所吩咐的辦了，

雅各的兒子們遵照父親的吩咐去辦了，

雅各的兒子們遵照父親的吩咐去辦了，

以色列的兒子們遵照父親的遺言，

雅各的眾子就照著父親囑咐他們的去作，

雅各的兒子們是這樣照他所吩咐的給他辦了。

這樣，雅各的兒子們就照著父親吩咐他們的為他去做：

雅各諸子、循父命而行、

雅各眾子循父命而行、

雅各眾子遵父命而行、

So Jacob’s sons did as he had commanded them:

Thus his sons did for him as he had commanded them,

So Jacob’s sons did as he had commanded them.

So Jacob’s sons did for him what he had commanded them.

And so his sons did for him as he had commanded them;

So his sons did for him just as he had commanded them.

And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

So Jacob’s sons did for him what he had commanded them.

And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

So the sons of Jacob did for him just as he had instructed them.

His sons did to him just as he commanded them,

“ Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Children, obey your parents as believers in the Lord. Obey them because it’s the right thing to do.

The time came near for Israel to die. So he sent for his son Joseph. He said to him,“ If you are pleased with me, put your hand under my thigh. Promise me that you will be kind and faithful to me. Don’t bury me in Egypt.When I join the members of my family who have already died, carry me out of Egypt. Bury me where they are buried.”“ I’ll do exactly as you say,” Joseph said.“ Give me your word that you will do it,” Jacob said. So Joseph gave him his word. And Israel worshiped God as he leaned on the top of his walking stick.

Some of their bodies were brought back to Shechem. They were placed in a tomb Abraham had bought. He had purchased it from Hamor’s sons at Shechem. He had purchased it for a certain amount of money.

Then Jacob gave directions to his sons. He said,“ I’m about to join the members of my family who have already died. Bury me with them in the cave in the field of Ephron, the Hittite.The cave is in the field of Machpelah near Mamre in Canaan. Abraham had bought it as a place where he could bury his wife’s body. He had bought the cave and the field from Ephron, the Hittite.The bodies of Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried there. So were the bodies of Isaac and his wife Rebekah. I also buried Leah’s body there.Abraham bought the field and the cave from the Hittites.”
