于是雅各下了埃及，后来他和我们的祖宗都死在那里；

以实玛利享寿一百三十七岁，气绝而死，归到他列祖那里。

以撒年纪老迈，日子满足，气绝而死，归到他列祖那里。他两个儿子以扫、雅各把他埋葬了。

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

我知道要使我临到死地，到那为众生所定的阴宅。

有名录在天上诸长子之会所共聚的总会，有审判众人的神和被成全之义人的灵魂，

这些人都是存着信心死的，并没有得着所应许的；却从远处望见，且欢喜迎接，又承认自己在世上是客旅，是寄居的。说这样话的人是表明自己要找一个家乡。他们若想念所离开的家乡，还有可以回去的机会。他们却羡慕一个更美的家乡，就是在天上的。所以神被称为他们的神，并不以为耻，因为他已经给他们预备了一座城。

于是领他走到外边，说：“你向天观看，数算众星，能数得过来吗？”又对他说：“你的后裔将要如此。”

但他的弓仍旧坚硬；他的手健壮敏捷。这是因以色列的牧者，以色列的磐石，就是雅各的大能者。你父亲的神必帮助你；那全能者必将天上所有的福，地里所藏的福，以及生产乳养的福，都赐给你。你父亲所祝的福胜过我祖先所祝的福，如永世的山岭，至极的边界；这些福必降在约瑟的头上，临到那与弟兄迥别之人的顶上。

你必寿高年迈才归坟墓，好像禾捆到时收藏。

“主啊！如今可以照你的话，释放仆人安然去世；

约书亚对百姓说：“看哪，这石头可以向我们作见证；因为是听见了耶和华所吩咐我们的一切话，倘或你们背弃你们的神，这石头就可以向你们作见证。”于是约书亚打发百姓各归自己的地业去了。这些事以后，耶和华的仆人嫩的儿子约书亚，正一百一十岁，就死了。

雅各叫了他的儿子们来，说：“你们都来聚集，我好把你们日后必遇的事告诉你们。
