王准各城各鎮的猶太人在一日之內，在十二月，就是亞達月的十三日聚集，在亞哈隨魯王的各省保護自己的性命，剪除，殺戮，滅絕那要攻擊猶太人的各省各族所有的軍隊，以及他們的妻子兒女，奪取他們的財產為掠物。

以利亞按照雅各子孫支派的數目，取了十二塊石頭；耶和華的話曾臨到雅各，說：「你的名要叫以色列。」

亞哈隨魯王對以斯帖王后和猶太人末底改說：「因為哈曼要下手害猶太人，看哪，我已把他的家產賜給以斯帖，也把哈曼掛在木架上了。

這應許，我們十二個支派，晝夜切切地事奉神，都指望得着。王啊，我正是因這指望被猶太人控告。

三月，就是西彎月二十三日，當時王的一些書記受召而來，按着末底改所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的語言，以及猶太人的文字語言寫諭旨，傳給那從印度直到古實一百二十七省的猶太人，以及總督、省長和領袖。

看哪，這百姓興起如母獅，挺身像公獅，未曾吃獵物，未曾喝被殺者的血，絕不躺臥。」

看哪，時候到了，必然成就，這就是我曾說過的日子。這是主耶和華說的。「住以色列城鎮的人要出去生火，用軍器燃燒，就是大小盾牌、弓箭、棍棒、槍矛；用它們來燒火，直燒了七年。他們不必從田野撿柴，也不必從森林伐木，因為他們要用這些軍器燒火。他們要搶奪那搶奪他們的人，擄掠那擄掠他們的人。這是主耶和華說的。」

十二月，就是亞達月十三日，王的諭旨和敕令要執行的那一日，猶太人的仇敵盼望制伏他們，但猶太人反倒制伏了恨他們的人。猶太人在亞哈隨魯王各省的城裏聚集，下手擊殺那些要害他們的人。沒有人能在他們面前站立得住，因為各民族都懼怕他們。各省的領袖、總督、省長，和辦理王事務的人，因懼怕末底改，就都幫助猶太人。末底改在朝中為大，名聲傳遍各省；末底改這人的權勢日漸擴大。猶太人用刀擊殺所有的仇敵，殺滅他們，隨意待那些恨他們的人。在書珊城堡中，猶太人殺滅了五百人。他們殺了巴珊大他、達分、亞斯帕他、破拉他、亞大利雅、亞利大他、帕瑪斯他、亞利賽、亞利代、瓦耶撒他；這十人都是哈米大他的孫子，猶太人的仇敵哈曼的兒子。猶太人卻沒有下手奪取財物。

我聽見以色列人各支派中受印的數目有十四萬四千；

這些寶石要有以色列十二個兒子的名字，如同刻印章，每一顆有自己的名字，代表十二個支派。
