But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.”

But his father wouldn’t do it. He said,“ I know, my son. I know. He too will become a nation. He too will become great. But his younger brother will be greater than he is. His children after him will become a group of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused.“ I know, my son; I know,” he replied.“ Manasseh will also become a great people, but his younger brother will become even greater. And his descendants will become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know! He too will become a tribe, and he too will be great; nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a populous nation.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”

他头生的公牛大有威严；他的两角是野牛的角，用来抵触万民，直到地极；这角是以法莲的万万，那角是玛拿西的千千。”

耶和华你们的神使你们多起来；你们看，你们今日像天上的星那样多。

以撒爱以扫，因为他常吃以扫的野味；利百加却爱雅各。

“耶和华必使灾难的日子临到你和你的人民，以及你的父家，自从以法莲脱离犹大以来，未曾有过这样的日子，就是亚述王的入侵。”

以法莲支派被数点的，共有四万零五百人。玛拿西子孙的后代，照着他们的宗族、父家，根据人名数目，二十岁及以上，凡是能出去打仗的，都登记了；玛拿西支派被数点的，共有三万二千二百人。

聚集在城门的众人和长老都说：“我们都是见证人。愿耶和华使进你家的这女人，像建立以色列家的拉结和利亚二人一样。愿你在以法他显大，在伯利恒扬名。愿耶和华从这少妇赐你后裔，使你的家像他玛从犹大所生法勒斯的家一般。”

波斯人、路德人、弗人都在你的军队中作战士；他们在你那里挂起盾牌和头盔，彰显你的光荣。

亚设支派中，一万二千人；拿弗他利支派中，一万二千人；玛拿西支派中，一万二千人；

他的队伍被数点的，共有四万零五百人。在他旁边的，是玛拿西支派，玛拿西人的领袖是比大蓿的儿子迦玛列。他的队伍被数点的，共有三万二千二百人。

但是，以色列两手交叉，右手按在次子以法莲的头上，左手按在长子玛拿西的头上。

至于以实玛利，我也应允你。看哪，我已经赐福给他；我必使他昌盛，子孙极其众多；他必生十二个族长；我也必使他成为大国。但我的约是要和以撒坚立的。这以撒，就是明年这时候，撒拉要为你生的。”

西布伦支派中，一万二千人；约瑟支派中，一万二千人；便雅悯支派中，一万二千人。
