何忍見我死而田荒、請以糧購我及我田、我與我田、効力於法老、第給我以種、使我延生不死、而田不荒、○

Why should we perish before your eyes— we and our land as well? Buy us and our land in exchange for food, and we with our land will be in bondage to Pharaoh. Give us seed so that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become desolate.”

有的說：「我們和我們的兒女人口眾多，需要糧食來活命。」有的說：「因為饑荒的緣故，我們要將田地、葡萄園和房屋作抵押來獲取糧食。」

她的人民呻吟著四處覓食，用珍寶換取糧食維生。她說：「耶和華啊，求你眷顧我，因為我被人蔑視。

曠野中殺機四伏，我們冒著生命危險才得到糧食。

不但如此，我看萬事都毫無價值，因為認識我主基督耶穌最寶貴。我為祂失去了一切，我把失去的一切視為垃圾，好得到基督，與祂聯合。我成為義人不是因為遵行律法，而是因為信靠基督。這義從上帝而來，以信為基礎。

為了得到食物，我們向埃及、亞述卑躬屈膝。

人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼換回自己的生命呢？

撒旦回答說：「人會以皮換皮，為了保全生命，情願捨棄一切。
