拉結說：「看哪，我的使女辟拉在這裏，你可以與她同房，使她生子歸在我膝下，我也可以藉着她得孩子。」拉結就把她的婢女辟拉給丈夫為妾，雅各與她同房。辟拉懷孕，為雅各生了一個兒子。拉結給他起名叫但，說：「神為我伸冤，也聽了我的聲音，賜給我一個兒子。」拉結的婢女辟拉又懷孕，為雅各生了第二個兒子。拉結給他起名叫拿弗他利，說：「我與我姊姊大大較力，並且得勝了。」

拉結的婢女辟拉的兒子是但、拿弗他利。

以色列住在那地的時候，呂便去與他父親的妾辟拉同寢，以色列也聽見了這件事。雅各共有十二個兒子。
