Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up at once to Bethel and live there. Make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

上帝对雅各说：“你到伯特利去住，你要在那里为上帝筑一座坛，祂在你逃避你哥哥以扫时曾向你显现。”

神对雅各说：“起来，上伯特利去，住在那里；你要在那里筑一座坛给神，就是从前你逃避你哥哥以扫的时候，向你显现的那一位。”

神对雅各说：“起来，上伯特利去，住在那里；你要在那里造一座祭坛给神——他是你逃避你哥哥以扫的时候曾向你显现的那一位。”

神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏；要在那裏築一座壇給神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的那位。」

上帝對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏。在那裏築一座壇給上帝，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的上帝。」

神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏。在那裏築一座壇給神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的神。」

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up to Bethel and live there. Build an altar there to honor me. That’s where I appeared to you when you were running away from your brother Esau.”

God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Get ready and move to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother, Esau.”

God said to Jacob,“ Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth- el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, who appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

God said to Jacob,“ Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

The LORD will judge his people, and will change his plans concerning his servants; when he sees that their power has disappeared, and that no one is left, whether confined or set free.

He struggled with an angel and prevailed; he wept and begged for his favor. He found God at Bethel, and there he spoke with him!

When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the sacred stone and made a vow to me. Now leave this land immediately and return to your native land.’”

God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble.

And he journeyed from place to place from the Negev as far as Bethel. He returned to the place where he had pitched his tent at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai.This was the place where he had first built the altar, and there Abram worshiped the LORD.

So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given to his brother. Esau said privately,“ The time of mourning for my father is near; then I will kill my brother Jacob!”When Rebekah heard what her older son Esau had said, she quickly summoned her younger son Jacob and told him,“ Look, your brother Esau is planning to get revenge by killing you.Now then, my son, do what I say. Run away immediately to my brother Laban in Haran.Live with him for a little while until your brother’s rage subsides.Stay there until your brother’s anger against you subsides and he forgets what you did to him. Then I’ll send someone to bring you back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

He picked out for us a special land to be a source of pride for Jacob, whom he loves.( Selah)

He said,“ Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She replied,“ I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai.”

He built an altar there and named the place El Bethel because there God had revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.

Then he moved from there to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and worshiped the LORD.

The LORD said to Jacob,“ Return to the land of your fathers and to your relatives. I will be with you.”

When you make a vow to God, do not delay in paying it. For God takes no pleasure in fools: Pay what you vow!It is better for you not to vow than to vow and not pay it.Do not let your mouth cause you to sin, and do not tell the priest,“ It was a mistake!” Why make God angry at you so that he would destroy the work of your hands?”

And Abraham called the name of that place“ The LORD provides.” It is said to this day,“ In the mountain of the LORD provision will be made.”

When Pharaoh heard about this event, he sought to kill Moses. So Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he settled by a certain well.

Meanwhile Jacob left Beer Sheba and set out for Haran.He reached a certain place where he decided to camp because the sun had gone down. He took one of the stones and placed it near his head. Then he fell asleep in that placeand had a dream. He saw a stairway erected on the earth with its top reaching to the heavens. The angels of God were going up and coming down itand the LORD stood at its top. He said,“ I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on.Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants.I am with you! I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!”Then Jacob woke up and thought,“ Surely the LORD is in this place, but I did not realize it!”He was afraid and said,“ What an awesome place this is! This is nothing else than the house of God! This is the gate of heaven!”Early in the morning Jacob took the stone he had placed near his head and set it up as a sacred stone. Then he poured oil on top of it.He called that place Bethel, although the former name of the town was Luz.Then Jacob made a vow, saying,“ If God is with me and protects me on this journey I am taking and gives me food to eat and clothing to wear,and I return safely to my father’s home, then the LORD will become my God.Then this stone that I have set up as a sacred stone will be the house of God, and I will surely give you back a tenth of everything you give me.”

( 2: 1) Look! A herald is running on the mountains! A messenger is proclaiming deliverance:“ Celebrate your sacred festivals, O Judah! Fulfill your sacred vows to praise God! For never again will the wicked Assyrians invade you, they have been completely destroyed.”
