Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn’t you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of timbrels and harps?

Why did you run away in secret and trick me? Why didn’t you tell me? Then I could have sent you away happily. We could have sung to the music of tambourines and harps.

Why did you flee secretly and trick me, and did not tell me, so that I might have sent you away with mirth and songs, with tambourine and lyre?

Why did you slip away secretly? Why did you deceive me? And why didn’t you say you wanted to leave? I would have given you a farewell feast, with singing and music, accompanied by tambourines and harps.

亞倫的姊姊，女先知米利暗，手裏拿着鼓；眾婦女也跟她出去拿鼓跳舞。

雅各回答拉班說：「恐怕你把你的女兒從我奪去，所以我逃跑。

火熱的嘴，奸惡的心，好像銀渣包的瓦器。怨恨人的，用嘴粉飾，心裏卻藏着詭詐；他用甜言蜜語，你不可信他，因為他心中有七樣可憎惡的。他雖用詭詐遮掩自己的怨恨，他的邪惡必在會中顯露。

雅各背着亞蘭人拉班偷走了，並不告訴他，就帶着所有的逃跑。他起身過大河，面向基列山行去。

基甸就從他僕人中挑了十個人，照着耶和華吩咐他的行了。他因怕父家和本城的人，不敢在白晝行這事，就在夜間行了。

耶和華對雅各說：「你要回你祖、你父之地，到你親族那裏去，我必與你同在。」雅各就打發人，叫拉結和利亞到田野羊羣那裏來，對她們說：「我看你們父親的氣色向我不如從前了；但我父親的神向來與我同在。

於是他們打發妹子利百加和她的乳母，同亞伯拉罕的僕人，並跟從僕人的，都走了。他們就給利百加祝福說：我們的妹子啊，願你作千萬人的母！願你的後裔得着仇敵的城門！

他們打發小孩子出去，多如羊羣；他們的兒女踴躍跳舞。他們隨着琴鼓歌唱，又因簫聲歡喜。他們度日諸事亨通，轉眼下入陰間。他們對神說：離開我們吧！我們不願曉得你的道。

雅八的兄弟名叫猶八；他是一切彈琴吹簫之人的祖師。
